Approx 22 fish between 2 rods mostly barbel to 8lb 4ozs.
The bulk were caught in the early part of the day but odd fish caught off and on all day including as the canoes passed. Canoe traffic lighter now and mostly well behaved with only the odd out of control one causing lines to be hastily retrieved.

Arrived just after 7, gentle mist rolling down the river and disappearing as I decided on where to fish. The river was slightly up and provided a strong flow to test my fishing skills - or lack of?

I am normally a fly fisherman, but opted to try my hand at Barbel fishing for a few hours. I decided upon the last peg and used a rolling weight with halibut pellet on a hair rig, not much joy so switched to luncheon meat. In four hours I caught 2 beautiful barbel and 2 large chub, all the fish were about 5LB.

Had a great chat to the owner and a big thank you to him and the WUF. A wonderful half a day, would definitely return to fish again.

Superb stretch of river, fished for 5hrs trotting sweetcorn over a large bed of hemp and caught 12 barbel to 8lb and 11 chub to 4lb along with a lone dace and lost many others.

Other commitments meant I didn't have as much time as I would have liked so only fished from 17.30 to 20.30. Managed 3 barbel from 2 - 6lb and one very hard fighting chub of 4lb 10oz. Infuriatingly I missed at least a dozen unmissable bites!

Fished 06.30 to 09.30. River very low and ultra clear. Early sunny then clouded over. Trotting float, centrepin and avon rod 8lb monoline to 12 hook with sweetcorn on hook and slow feed same into swim at bottom of beat. Shallow wade to river centre then float down clear gulley about 3ft deep with float set at about 5ft.
6 or 8 barbel to around 6lb, 3 chub to around 3lb, inumerable dace some of over 10oz. Had a dace snatched at so lip hooked it and next cast hooked but lost at net wild trout of maybe 3lb possibly due to small hook size to dace? Excellent sport and river stunning in early mist. Great action in fast flow.
Dipper pair are still resident. A mid sized dark salmon right under near bank by "quay".
I earier reported loosing a large barbel when hook snapped at bend, investigation after another lost fish indicates that my foreceps for hook removal are DAMAGING HOOKS, others take heed!
With low water coarse anglers coming to the Wye should consider bringing waders, they open up so many possibilities from just sitting on bank with heavy weed to contend with.

River very low and clear. Fished from 6.45 to 12. Took 5 barbel fishing pellet over a big bed of hemp. 4 fish between 4 and 5 ish pounds. Best fish was an absolute belter of 9lb 6oz. Plenty of other bites.

Canoe traffic was much lighter than I was expecting and to be honest the fish didn't seem to mind them. I even had bites when the canoes were directly over the fish. Mostly the canoeists were well behaved but for 2 morons paddling one canoe who thought it great fun to paddle directly towards drinking cattle and hit them in the faces with their paddles!

250 mile journey to get there meant that I didn't start until 10am. First barbel at around 12.15, then bites for 45 mins, then swim died. Topped up feed and stopped fishing for an hour. More bites and fish from 3pm to 4pm then died again. Topped up but this time nothing. Bites again around 7pm.

6 barbel all around 3lbs - 4lbs all perfect condition. Lost three what appeared to be larger fish in a big snag mid river (also lost 3 rigs in same snag).

Great day will be back as soon as possible.

Canoes most of the day but only those on "corporate team days" really caused any problems!

Third visit to this beautiful spot on the wye. Fished from 5am till 10am until the dreaded canoes arrived. Lots of barbel and chub caught on sweetcorn trotting and ledgering, Great fun! Disapointed to find beer cans and a used meat can left on the first croy by a previous fisherman I would have thought Don's lovely fishery deserves better than that....

I arrived at 08:30 and started fishing about 09:30 at the bottom of beat. The river was down about 8 inches from the last time I fished here at the end of June. The flow was still strong and the conditions looked excellent. I feeder fished pellet into the middle of the river into fast water and had bites straight away. My friend RH arrived about 10am and right on cue my rod tip hooped over and I was into the first barbel of the session which, at 6lb 6oz, was my biggest from the Wye. Keen to get started RH scurried off to his chosen swim just up the bank on the bottom crib and was into a chub within seconds of his first cast hitting the bottom. He used similar tactics to myself and had a total of around 10 smallish chub and barbel. We both suffered a blank period with no bites whatsoever from around 12:00 - 16:30. I switched to luncheon meat around 5pm and had an eel of about 1.5lbs. The action picked up later in the early evening when I had a new personal best barbel of 8lb 12.5oz followed immediately by another of 6lb 8oz, both to pellet. Another excellent day's fishing and I can't wait to come back and bring my dad here!!

11 barbel caught from the bottom swim, between 6:45am and 4:45pm. All smallish fish between 1.5 and 4.5lbs to pellet/corn cocktails, fished behind a cage feeder three-quarters across into the main flow. 4 further fish lost to hook pulls in the mid-river weed, plus one lost due to a hooklink cut off by a rock. River very low and clear, maximum depth no more than 3 feet, bright sunshine and lots of canoes most of the day. To be honest dreadful conditons for barbel, so I was happy to catch at all - I could easily have done a lot worse elsewhere. Very nice to see so many young, healthy barbel. A good stretch of river for anyone needing a confidence booster, although I suspect it needs a bit of colour for the bigger fish to put in an appearance. Well done WUF and Don.
