River with an extra foot of water to last time, meant holding the bottom needed 4oz really. Lots of snags too. Fished all day had fish to 9lb on the nose with 12 being between 12oz and 4.5lb. Chub were mixed in to 5lb 8oz and a few massive dace around 12oz or more.

River up and very fast. Lost a lot of strong tackle in the rocks, lots of boats. The dace fishing was good on the float.

Gary had one barbel of 6.6 plus a chub, I had one small barbel around 4lbs plus two chub largest about 4lbs
both using groundbait feeder/meat

The river rose very quickly during the day about 16/18 inches plus although there was no local rain the night before and very little the day before either, the banks along 90% of this stretch are treacherous and should not be fished by anybody that is not agile and fit! We nearly got marooned in the last swim downstream and had to clamber up a very steep bank clinging on to tree braches to make our escape to the top footpath this is because the river level and the bank are almost at the same height along a good deal of this stretch ( steps should be cut into the bank for this purpose)
The description on the permit of a well maintained river bank I'm afraid is very misleading!!

Fishing Passport Note : While a rising rivers always cause issues with access, we are reviewing the Wyebank beat description with the fishery owner and will make any necessary changes in due course. It is not always possible to know about changes in access conditions so feedback from customers such as this is extremely useful.

The river was running very fast unable to hold bottom with a 5oz feeder. Fished from 6am to about midday then gave up.
Few small Chub caught more by luck than judgement.
I now know not to book to early and check the level before travelling 120 miles each way.
Apart from the conditions I like the fishery and will definitely return.

Upon arrival I found a fast stretch of water pushing through after rain. After plumbing around I found a 3ft hole and a crease in the fast flow. I just managed to hold bottom with 4oz feeders on the inside. I was feeding small halibut pellets, ChemoR groundbait and ChemoR boilies. My first 2 bites were lost on the rocks cut off almost instantly. When the feeders were empty they sometimes dislodge in the strong flow and then get stuck between rocks. After 2 hrs I managed to land the first barbel of 4. 2lb 3lb 4lb and 5lb. I also caught an eel. Not bad on the day. I recommend very tough kit for this venue or you will lose gear. (LOTS).

Strong braided hooklengths saved the day.

River running very fast and coloured, must have come up a good 3-4 ft since last trip and just couldn't hold bottom in the pool with feeder or lead. One Barbel which was very welcome. Put it down to another learning experience on the wonderful Wye.
