Arrived to find venue still affected by peaty water although level and weather favourable. Fishing proved difficult with just one decent barbel and nine small fish. Caught chub and dace on float for a break from losing feeders in the many snags! Clearly this venue has potential on the right day and with more awareness of how to navigate around the rocky bottom. All barbel caught on feeder with various pellet based hook baits.

Quiet morning, apart from my pals 11lb 10oz cracking barbel! In the afternoon it picked up once we used 5oz to hold bottom. River was up a bit! Plenty of snags! First time on this beat, the whole stretch is pretty much shallow & I would imagine could be very good in the summer/hot weather.

Really tough day, the river was high, coloured and bombing through which made fishing this beat particularly hard. We had about 100 swimmers pass through and very heavy canoe traffic which didn't help and also there's a portage point on this stretch, so we had lot's of people entering and exiting the river next to where we were fishing! But we still caught a few.

When the river is high Wyebank becomes problematic and the croys were nowhere to be seen when we arrived....Despite the testing conditions the fish were feeding as clearly the slight drop in water over the past couple of days helped our cause.
Much to our delight we managed to catch some cracking Dace some of which were in the the 8 to 10oz bracket a few nice chub and a couple of good Barbel over 7lb.
The boat traffic was lighter than usual due to the adverse conditions and clearly some people are braver than us....We observed a young couple paddle down the racing river together on a bodyboard with no life jackets on and the lad was wearing chest waders!! Each to their own I guess...
