River flow seemed to increase dramatically after 10am .Lots of canoes (60+) but all politely paddled. Fish also politely declined my invitation.

Raining quite heavily on arrival but stopped shortly afterwards. I decided to walk the length of the beat for a "recce". With some knowledge of the beat I chose to fish the downstream end, past the shallow slack water into the deeper faster flow. This proved to be a good choice as I caught five barbel, 1 just over 10 lbs, 1 - 9 lbs, 2 - 8 lbs and 1 about 4 lbs, 5 chub to 5 lbs and 2 eels. What a day! Thank you Don for our interesting chat and a well managed beat. Another wonderful day on the Wye. Thank you W.U.F.

The river was exceptionally low with clear views of the bottom through less than a foot of water well out into the middle run. The sun shone strongly all day it was possible to watch eels scouring the river bed for debris.
The only fishing option was to target the stronger flow between the cribs. Trotting down with meat through the fast water produced a good number of knocks and some good chub were taken, two over six pounds. It also found the eels!
The original target fish, barbel, was not to be found however despite fishing the bottom pitch in every recommended way. Boilies, meat, corn, pellets and the rest all produced no takes, not even from chub.
A delightful day despite the lack of barbel. Thanks Don for the advice.
Five chub. Best 6 pounds. Eels.

One small fresh run grilse early afternoon on Devon blue and silver from Wyebank pool behind the crib. Fish seen there Monday as well as along bottom end Legg Meadow. I suspect a small run came up on the 4" lift of water we had late Sunday which dropped back Monday.

WOW June 16 again and what an afternoons fishing. After a slow start [no indications for the first 45 mins] a change of tactics was needed. Swapping to a blockend feeder loaded with hemp and a small 6mm pellet on the hair had the desiered effect kickstarting an instant response. Chub after chub came to the net so a change back to pellet/groundbait feeder and I had a barbel first cast. To be honest I lost count of how many after 18 barbel they were even taking on the drop. Thank you to all at the Foundation and Don.

20 Barbel, 20 Chub
