Unusually, , all fish (best a 9lb barbel) caught in the middle of the day from the top stretch. High banks treacherous due to steepness and mud - was glad I had my rope and spike with me otherwise an involuntary swim was highly likely

This was my first day on this beat so I was investigating its potential. I was surprised to find that the fishing positions were severely limited to those in the meadow below the water works only. Additionally, I found that there were nasty snags in all the positions I tried making it frustrating. Car access to the meadow positions was OK. I had three funny bites on my pike gear which came to nothing so think these must have been Jacks. Very few bites on Barbel gear.
