River still draining the wettest winter, not too much colour. Saw 1 salmon. Caught a chub and a pike on a Flying C.

Superb conditions on Sunday, river clearing through the day which showed in a bonus 4lb Chub in the afternoon. We had 4 fish to just over 10lb fishing the Meadow and had to leave after lunch, very reluctantly.
If you can get there this week promises some very special end of season fishing. The Barbel are fighting fit and at top weight for the season.
Also saw a number of salmon jump and should be clear for a fly by now.

Had a fantastic day at Courtfield, the conditions were perfect as at last it has stopped raining! We met Don who put us in the swims.
My friend J had a barbel in the first 20 minutes, then went on to catch 4 more up to 8lb.
I was blanking until 1.30pm, then moved further down Legg Meadow where I caught a nice chub of 3lb and then the barbel moved in. I had 4 big fish ranging from 7lb to 9lb and lost one. Such a shame the season is ending when the fishing is now so good. They need to extend the season by at least a month. We will be back!
Thanks Don.

Great days fishing. Don Macer-Wright was a great help. He liased with my mate who has also left report. I was into the barbel second cast fished in Legge Meadow. I had 2 of 8lb, 2 of 7lb and 1 of 6lb. My mate had 4, 2 were 9lb plus and a couple of chub. Fished the woods in the summer, good size barbel, prolific stretch, well worth booking!

River predictably up and coloured after over night rain but still within its banks. Drop in temperature meant that fishing was slow with just the one barbel - a fish of 8.15 taken at around 2.30.

River in perfect condition, unfortunately my fishing skills weren't. Spent the day pike fishing and although the river was spot on, I didn't catch. Wish I had taken my Barbel and Chub gear instead!

Late afternoon from middle of Leggs Meadow in 1 hour session, 6 Chub from around 2lb to a weighed 5lb 7oz fish with large, obvious scar on flank. Float fishing with pin and light terminal line as water very clear (at last!) and old bread and cheese pinched around hook. Fish in excellent condition and form. River in great form for this type of fishing and anticipate pike should be on move at dawn and dusk.

We had booked a 2 day trip to the Wye a couple of weeks previously and traveled up from Portsmouth as we usually do. As such we have to take what ever conditions prevail on the day. The river was very high and fast flowing. We checked out the swim in front of the Courtfield which (as advised by WUF in a previous catch report) had some slack water close in. We then checked out the Meadow area and found 3 or 4 swims that also had fishable areas close in. As there were two of us we decided to fish here. Impossible to hold bottom out from the bank due to the flow and debris coming down the river. I caught a barbel of around 5lb on pellet within the first hour so all looked promising. My friend lost a fish around 1pm. Rained all day pretty heavily, we packed up about 2pm wet but not defeated! We will be back again.
Thanks to Denise and Tony at the Jovial Colliers in Lydbrook for looking after us again.
