Good conditions in the morning warm overcast light rain. One fish lost after a solid take (shed hook after a few minuits)

Only fished for an hour or so before slipping and breaking my rod and injuring myself. Nil catch.

River looked a good hight at the bottom of the beat and it looked promising. fished all the way through hard all day, Legg Meadow and the wood section as well. Nothing seen and no contact made. Same as last weekend on Wyebank, looked great fished a dream with the fly but again not a sign of a fish.

Don Macer-Wright was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable with an infectious enthusiasm that made it a great day - no fish but that was probably more down to me than the beat!

I went down to the boat pool Courtfield 6.30ish Sunday evening after the wind dropped and was fishing down towards the willow run below when I caught sight of a good fish break the surface in the little bay below the moorings, which is a classic spot where fish lie and get caught. I went back up the bank, gave him 10 minutes and hooked him on the second cast but he jumped and threw the hook, sub 15lbs. Lost another this morning fishing from Thomas Wood crib 2,Upper Courtfield which was on for a very short while and I saw a good silver flash, so pretty sure it was a salmon. Both lost on barbless single hooks flying c so changed to blue and silver devon on standard treble mount and this afternoon fishing the corner run, Legg meadow, Courtfield, hooked and tailed, after a good fight of 10 minutes plus, a hen fish which measured just over 39" with sea lice. my third 20 pounder of the year!!! I put the fish at 23lbs from the chart, she was a well shaped fish but not as deep bodied as the 25lb cock fish I had from Home fishery

Good conditions, with the water slowly falling to more desirable levels, lovely surroundings and excellent weather overhead. Used a variety of spinners - mainly Flying-C and Toby - during the course of the day. No clear takes, but Don M-W claims to have seen 'something' following my lure at one point! Extremely enjoyable day and, as a rookie salmon angler, using spinning tackle for the first time in his (long) life, I appreciated Don's advice and support! Hope to return another day.....

Fished spinning, mostly the Legg Meadow Pool and Crib and Wood Crib. No joy apart from two pike (biggest about 8 lb) which provided moments of excitement. Saw one fish jump. Many thanks to Don for advice.

I lost a very large salmon at the Legg Meadow pool after lunch to a Yellow Belly. It was huge!

15lb salmon caught mid afternoon from below Legg meadow crib. Water looking perfect no fish seen.
