An eelly not bad day ("others " were 9 eels). Chub ranged from about 3lb to a 4.12 PB for me. Last cast of day produced a very welcome barbel of 5.12 to DW. Not a monster but a lovely, pristine fish. Other river users, although still numerous, seemed on the whole to be a lot more polite and adept compared to the previous day. Really enjoyed the occasional lull and after 4pm when they'd all finished. Was able to enjoy the Wye in all her majestic beauty in those times of peace. On the wildlife front, a peregrine, family of mandarin ducks and 3 or 4 salmon jumping, 1 of which looked all of 20 pounds.

Very slow fishing. 5 anglers, all usual methods and baits. 1 barbel lost. Canoes, kayaks and paddle boarders drove us mad all day and we packed up at 3pm. Suppose we were naive to assume a Saturday in July would be anything less! Thank you to the 3 idiots who hooked my line and towed my rod 100 yards downstream at the moment I had disengaged by Baitrunner. Sincere thanks to the skilled kayaker who chased after them, retrieved my rod and reel and paddled back up the fast water to hand it back to me. If I meet you again, I would love to buy you a couple of pints of Buttybach. Notable wildlife included goshawk, otter and the usual sparrowhawk, grey wagtail, kingfisher, raven and buzzard. Other fish were an eel and a dace.

Fished the evening ticket. Fishing was tricky but found a barbel at dusk after being mobile. A lovely evening.
