High wind gusts against me made it challenging, very bright and low water but a few fish were moving to March browns. Alas I missed a couple of rises but lots of fun trying. I’m a sucker for a nice fishing hut and the beat was well maintained with good access.

Better day today only a few march browns around. Only a few fish rising today but still managed 2 on the spiders and 3 pulls too! Very hot for time of year.

Saw a few rises but nothing came from it. All by the bridge. Lovely evening

3 brown trout caught but all lost whilst playing them much to my frustration, all due to jumping and head shakes. Further 3 pulls on the spiders too. Massive day full of match browns, at times I had at least a dozen covering me. So many fish rising for all the match browns, not interested in my dry fly, just too much choice!

Slow day today, huge hatch of match browns, several fish taking them off the top but weren’t interested in any of my flies never mind good couple of days.

Lovely day on this beat. The owner rang me the evening before for a friendly chat and a few tips. Day started frosty and sunny, on the water by 11.15. Big hatch of March browns started about 12 noon, a couple of fish rising along the beat. Had a lovely brownie of about 14” drifting 2 spiders, carefully returned. Nothing else for the rest of the day.

Good trip to Chainbridge. Picked up an 8-10lb coloured cock salmon on a spinner in Chine pool.
Nice water height, just carrying a bit too much colour for the fly.
Also saw a good salmon near the bridge (15-20lb).
