Well did initially have plans for Mrs A to come along , but she wanted t get some jobs done in the garden , so I ambled down to Bucknell , arriving about nineish at the parking spot , not actually done this section of the Teme before , so was quite excited to be honest . . . .
Split cane day , rigged up my old seven foot four weight , made for me by Dig Diggory from up Oswestry many years ago , and initially opted for a tiny Para Greenwells , see how things went . . .
Walked down to the river and as I imagined , having had lunch at the Lion in Leintwardine only a few days earlier and seeing the Teme there , was the same situation , pretty low !!!! Never mind , let's give it a bash , didn't want to waste my well earned twenty quid for the ticket !!!!!!
No real interest in the dries initially , so changed to a tiny GRHE , imidiate success on one of the deep, pools , and a lovely twelve inch Teme brownie to the net , great start . . .
Next pool , same again , hit the nymph hard and a brownie of maybe fourteen inches perhaps gorgeous colouration , and slipped back in . Some of these pools are a saving grace for the trout , as they are very very deep , even. With most of the riffles , only inches deep now . . .
Some activity from the martins as they were nailing insect s just above the water at elevenish , and I did see two rises from the resident trout , so I tied back on my Para Greenwell s, and on the bend before the straight of cricket bat willows , had a lovely ten inch fish on the dry , smashing take too . I'm guessing I only did half the beat , but a nice initial recce , and even nicer to bring three crackers too the net , spot on . Will do the full beat next time , seems a cracker , and I'm sure with more water it's awesome , bet the mayflies here were sublime fishing days , as I did see six or seven this morning . . . . Called it a day at twelve , bimbled back to the truck , and headed back to the ponderosa , a fun morning , and nice to tangle with the leopards of the Teme . . . . . Excellent !!!!!!!

The recent flood water had fined down to a perfect level, and the water was running clear. Two of us fished hard throughout the day, for three small brown trout, which were all taken on dry Greenwells. Given the weather and the excellent water conditions it was disappointing that we saw so few fish rising.

Due to recent rain the water was brown carrying debris and near topping the bank so not really fishable today.

Lovely beat, very stormy day, heavy rain, bright sunshine. Fished from midday k and d, few small takes but river seemed dead. Around 2.30 insect life began, changed to dry caught 10" wbt , missed many more. Then went quiet. 5 pm mayflies came alive and caught a cracker about 1.5 lbs. a real leaper ! Had to leave at 6.30 shame as river was coming to life. Thanks Wuf, very enjoyable afternoon. Hope to come back.

The river is quite low and very clear but still fishable. The fish are quite sparse this year. Areas where I would have seen fish in previous years are now barron. Plenty of fly hatches though and lots of fry in the margins . I saw 7 fish and got takes off 6, landed 2. Not my best ratio! Lol
