Very hot day only had three Chub caught on pellet. Apart from the lack of catching the day was spoilt by far bank activity. Cars continually being driven along, anglers wadding across and fishing our bank and shouting being the means to communicate. Won't go again.

Fished the lower end of beat on the obvious looking barbel pegs. River was up and coloured compared to our visit a few weeks ago. Barbel feed well at the start of the day but as the colour dropped out the action slowed. We finished the day with 15 barbel and 3 chub all taken on pellets. JT was landing one of his chub and it was hit by a huge pike that jumped clear out of the water to claim its prize. It must have been a big fish as I heard the splash from a long way down stream.

An excellent day's fishing with fourteen barbel to just under 10lbs all from just two swims.

What a delightful place to fish. Even the car parking spot would make a grand place for a picnic. Splendid scenery, atmospheric and interesting stretch of river.
River quite low again but still holding a tinge of colour. Drifting weed a nuisance in a couple of swims. Fished four good looking swims without a bite until finding fish in the fifth, and caught 8 barbel in final 2 hours. Best fish was a new pb for the Wye at 9:10 - a lovely deep-bodied specimen.
I dunno which books the Wye barbel read, but the swims they sometimes inhabit don't always conform to expectation!

Nice stretch of river, we found two people already fishing from fishing 'stations' mid flow in the middle of the shallows which restricted us a little but hey ho!! We managed 3 chub and 1x 7lb barbel so not a bad day in the end. I would recommend a float rod on this beat as you can trot about 60 yards + from one of the top swims. Again beautiful settings and perfect healthy fish.

6 barbel and 8 chub. Perhaps we picked a bad day.
Found ourselves on this beat in competition with 3 other coarse anglers, a salmon angler + I presume day ticket anglers on the opposite bank which spoilt the day. You get this on the Severn but have never experienced this before on the Wye, so will give this beat a miss in future.
WUF Note: The How Caple Court owner reserves the right to occasionally fish the beat with guests without any notice (as mentioned in beat description on the website). We will update the beat documents to make this clearer but anyone wanting guarenteed exclusivity should look for a different fishery. The recent beat work has created plenty of swims from which to choose.

Another wonderful stretch of water - directions spot on. Very easy accsess to the new swims, fished 3 and caught in all of them, pestered by pike when trotting for chub so might be worth a trip this winter. Barbel later to pellet - all in top condition. Thanks again W&U.

Lovely peaceful and tranquil beat - the kind of place you get away for. I had 6 hours from around 2.00pm to dusk but a great session nevertheless. Numerous Barbel including one klonker (no scales guess around 9lb); and epic struggles with a further couple (est 7.5-8.0). One of these got under a willow on the steep bank to my left. Remarkably (more luck than judgement) he(?) seemed happy to swim out when I got above him. Compliance was short lived and with the clutch screwed down and the rod describing the most unnatural curve I just kept him from getting back in there (12lb line). Adrenalin fuelled fishing for the finest fighting fish in British freshwater. Thanks WUF.
