Feeder fished pellets bottom two swims only one fishable due to high water level.

8 Barbel, 4 Chub

Difficult day on rising river but managed to winkle a few out. Water was clear enough to use maggots which accounted for all the fish apart from the largest barbel which was caught on meat.

Fished for a second day with only one barbel (8-5). River starting to rise again and more rain forecast. Care needed on slippery banks.

Only a couple of swims on the lower end producing fish. Best barbel 8-10 and chub to 4-8 on feeder fished meat and pellet.

Only 3 anglers fished, very difficult conditions.

A much better day on lower section, even though the river started to rise from late morning. Nice 6lb barbel to legered pellet and two chub from a different swim on pellet, weighing 3.00 and 4.14. Latter fish looked a definite 5.00, alas it wasn't to be but still a pb for the angler in question :-) Rest of the catch return is small dace.
This is a lovely peaceful fishery with lots of wildlife to see but it would benefit from more swim creation - long lines of willow trees make access impossible for much of the lower section.
