The river was as low as we had ever seen and, sadly, our two favourite swims had received severe pruning back of the trees bordering the swims removing refuge places for the fish. We tried three different swims but not a touch all day. Two barbel and a chub in the last hour. A difficult day.

No fish all day, very hot and bright sunshine, nothing moving, even into the evening.
Pellet, boilie approach on the ledger.
Always another day.
Lovely place to be nevertheless, some might say #rubbishanglers but that was disproved the next day at Holme Lacy 3 with totally different weather conditions.

A bad day weather wise with strong sunshine and little flow. Just had he one Chub out of the blue. To be honest i can't really recommend the place as there are not many swims at all and with low water landing a fish is almost impossible. The downstream half is jungle with impossible steep overgrown banks and contains a maximum of two swims. The upstream half is no better although i must admit i never walked it all. To be honest, I feel that I should ask for my money back! I'm not after a commercial fishery, and appreciate a wild feel, but feel that absolutely nothing is being done to enhance the fishery in any way. I won't be coming back or recommend the place.

Unable to fish my swims due to anglers on the far bank casting to my feet, experienced difficulty finding a swim that was not being fished by other anglers. The farmer was very kind and allowed me vehicular access to the beat which was utterly stunning, with shallow streamy sections and deep pools which promised much. The beat is teaming with wildlife especially Kingfishers and Buzzards which provided ample amusement. Unfortunately not all anglers observe the courtesies of the sport. Will not be returning to this beat again. One fish lost at dusk, conditions very tough (low water, hot and sunny).

Good day on this lovely beat. Tricky conditions with hot, bright weather and low, clear water but still managed to catch a few. Really like How Caple and will be back soon.

I will start saying that we are three accomplish anglers. so that aside this was are first time on this beat and after reading some reports in the last week or so and meeting two chaps outside the beefeater that morning this was a hard days fishing. it was very hot and sunny day but we found some depth of 4ft or more in a lot of places and with a lot of weed coming down put we did manage to get some fish. S M got two barbell of 9. 12 and 3. 6 and one chub S G had one chub and the big surprise of the day a pike of 6.2. all the fish where landed using pellets as for M H what can we say will have to try again and we will as this beat is set in a very nice part of the wye.
