No fish landed today unfortunately. Nice little stretch of river either side of the water treatment works.

Used a tenkara rod with both kebari and merger patterns, all upstream. One small trout went for the merger just upstream of the road bridge towards the bottom of the beat.

Glorious Spring morning with the brook at a good level. Birdlife was just marvellous with the smell of wild garlic adding to the experience. A little cold perhaps but first outing of the season lifted the excitement of being there.
No fish seen but managed to winkle out a couple of beautifully conditioned trout on nymphs. One 6" and the other 8". Both returned. Access to the brook was easier given the time of year but still managed to find the not so elusive "tree trout" on several occasions due to my limited casting and concentration skills no doubt even with my 6ft fly rod.
Thank you

4 x trout 6-10 inches, Rusty Klinkhammer. After the drought months, the first visit in a long time. The stream has dropped back again after recent rise. Several trees brought down by summer storms.

Water levels were good today and the brown algae had reduced. Fished from mid day until 4 ish. Fished the dry dropper, but only saw a couple of fishing raising, so switched to a PTN under an indicator. Managed to hook 5 fish but lost 4 of them. Later found out why I lost so many, as my PTN hook had straightened out slightly! Must have done that on the many snags I encountered . There’s a lesson there somewhere!
