Was nice to be going solo on an old favourite today ... Fished the mid section up, only three hours, oh and had a quick mooch up Oakfield too ....
Eight to the net in total... Wow, she's in need of a good bit of water in fairness ...
Fish the usual stamp here, with a couple of pukka strong small stream fish !!! Pocket water stuff, with stealthy tactics, presenting the dry fly with that added stiff breeze !!! All part of the fun hey .....
Low water , but in fairness still nice and clear.... needs a good freshening up tbh !!!
Nice to see the kingfisher up and down, and i must say,in the approach field, theres a superb herd of beef cattle, with a lump of a bull in there too !!!
Anyway, even with the Ithon low, with super stealthy tactics, snaffling out a few brownies on dries is still doable !!!! Great stuff .....
Right, thats me catching up with a couple of anglers in The Crown tonight. They've been in the Cwm Elan, with a "mountain llyn" excursion tommorrow.... So, piscatorial chat over a couple of scoops it'll be then!!! Doesn't get much better than that !! Cheers folks .........

Well , my last stream session this week !!! First things first , water temperature ...I dipped it on two occasions, both at 16.5 degrees ...So yes, this is definately my last stream session, till this bloody intense weather breaks, and we have a good rain storm ..... looks like the weekend maybe ....
I fished early bells 5:40 am to 8:45 am... Twas lovely first thing, with a heavy dew down, and fog like pea soup !!! Fish were still keen to nail a dry .... some upwings on the go from half six ....superb !!!
The river this year seems in dam good condition to be fair....lots of bugs and insects under stones, and, i don't think I've seen so much small fry in the river... its busting this year !!!! Boades well i hope ....
Seven made it to the net, usual stamp for here, quickly released....It seems like tommorrow is another cooking day too!! Christ, the Met Office "App alert" punter must be working overtime ...Amber this, red that... for god sake, its just Summer, get on with it !!!!!
Anyway, a quick, early sortie on a local beat....Fun, fun, fun ..... Back to The Ponderosa, and a nice fab lolly ...sorted !!! I have two gents postponed for river days .... Patience is a virtue I say !!!!

A cracking six hours , guiding James upstream,on a very low, but clear Ithon.....
I gotta say, he applied himself well, taking on board all the fundamentals of the dry fly presentation, and, selecting likely holding water, should a rise not be present !!! The boy did good .......
Eight brownies to the net, with a few that I feel should have been worthy of being in the net also, with the hard work, and persistence James put in to the day ....He loved the whole small streams thing !! Some clients i know just don't get it .... You can tell by the lack of excited delirium at the end of the day . Physical exercise and fly fishing for some, go hand in hand, whilst for others, its like garlic to a vampire !!! Lol .....
Fish were the usual stamp for here, eight to ten inches, but feisty, and furious when hooked ...We started at half ten, and got out by the top galvanised gate at half four....A great day, and i must say, always nice seeing an angler so enthusiastic about these smaller streams .....Right, my work here is done .....Time to crack open a cold can of Inchs Cider ....Cheers Folks !!!!

Well, after a quick shimmy up Oakfield gave the top section of this beat, a quick going over....
Small, dinky fish nailing my tiny dries, great fun, but nothing of a decent size showing today , even in the likely positions . Still a fabulous session, and, spotted the mink ....Again!!! Always when ya not got ya gun hey !!!!
As stated before, rivers dropped back quickly, from the lovely freshen up a few days ago ...Those fish really responded aggressively to my dry...Today, they weren't so enthusiastic in fairness. A good bit of sport though, so can't really complain !!!
A fun overall sortie on two beats of a favourite river. Will start my investigations in Ernest for a tag on section to Oakfield !!! Watch this space.....lol !!!

A red letter session .... fished between ten and quarter to two !!! Sublime dry fly sport today ....The wild streams are at there best now, having previously seen this morning some remarks on catch returns !! Im sure folks visualise a wild stream as a babbling Cherry Brook as described well by Mike Weaver ..... The local ones demand some graft i can tell you !! Jungle tactics, go armed with your secateurs too, to do a bit of a clip back here and there ....I always do twenty minutes tidy up where ever I am !!!!
Pocket water was were lots of the six to eight inch fish nailed my dry fly !!! Tops of streamy pools also great fun ....
Nothing huge, all peas in a pod , between six and ten inches, but still fun with the six foot, two weight.... superb stuff !!!
Running perfect now, and fish feisty and aggressive...
Here's a point .... whys no one fishing the Usk Wild Streams ???? I see they've hardly been touched this season ... Bran, Honddu, some fab water there too ....
Had a quick recce up at Oakfield beat, just up the road too, looking nice... back here soon!! Clients in the Elan Valley for a couple of days now .... looks like perfect drizzly weather inbound too ....sorted !!! A cracking few hours on a local favourite stream.....

On arrival nothing showing at all, but decided to prospect with dry flies. Caught steadily from just about every riffle then on, mostly small fish but the occasional bigger one.

Really fun session.

Fished the upper part of Llanddewi for the morning, lots of activity to start with, but rises tailed off later in the morning, as you might expect in June. River at great height for fishing.

More of a quick recce this morning ....Not sure as the NRW rivers gauge is working, was reading 0.161 online , it was way more than that !!! Fab having some water in it .........
Early session, only an hour and a half... Fished the mid section up to top of the beat ....
This'll be back on form in a couple of days ...I'll be back then for a proper slow time, dry fly session ...
The fast riffley water, I picked up six small fish, nothing huge, perhaps six or seven inches, like peas in a pod.....
Saw the mink skulking about.
All the half dozen fish to dries.... Still carrying a good strong tea stain in the water...Like i mentioned, by Friday should be bang on !!!
Twas just a quick mooch with the six foot rod, nice to see a river pushing through, in June !!! Great stuff ..Right, back to organising the rest of the week ...A fun, albeit brief session on a favourite beat ....

Fished after lunch and the river was quite quiet.
Returned in the evening and much more activity, including a small mayfly hatch
