Well my last free day of the week well spent. Again it was freezing cold which certainly doesn’t help with your technique when you can’t feel your fingers haha! Even still it has seemed harder to locate the grayling Czech style the last few days, maybe a french style would suit better with the clear/shallow water.
Caught a beautiful fish on a hand tied disco shrimp though which was more than enough for me.

Arrived at 09:30 just as the sun was breaking through following a cold start. Disaster struck as I broke the tip of my new 10ft float rod I had bought specially for this beat while tackling up, fortunately had my 12ft rod with me. Trotted maggot taking 5 good grayling between 10 and 14 inches. Fish appeared to be spread out and not shoaled up. As I contemplated packing up at 16:00 a barn owl fly directly over head.

Very cold and rainy with the river low and crystal clear. Managed to take a beautiful grayling on the pink shrimp, but my technique was pretty poor all day to be honest. Better anglers than me would have had a cracking day I think, fish shoaled up and more difficult to find, perhaps spooky with the clear water too.

Well it wasn't for lack of trying. Gave it a good five hours with weighted pink shrimp, small nymphs, Klink and dink, vladi worm, etc. but to no avail. Hard going at times with lots of scrambling in and out of the river. Also new to this Canadian is fishing to a gallery of curious sheep and suspicious cattle!

Managed a couple of hours fishing over lunchtime.
Bit flooded out after the recent rain i'm afraid, water a little muddy. Quite hard to locate the fish perhaps, or they couldn't see my nymphs so well? Either way nothing doing for my pink shrimp really!

2 x grayling 6 and 12 inches, 2 x out of season trout 12 and 14 inches, Pink Shrimp and Baetis Duck's Dun. This didn't pan out as hoped exactly - trout still forward on the feeding positions and I think I would have done better to have used dry fly all through. Another warm, windy and rather dark afternoon with rain on the way.

Well , a cool dank November day when I bowled up at the Court of Noke beat at twelve , and after a long weeks work was ready to chill out , and hopefully locate the grayling . . . .

Started just up from the little style where the river has a bit more character , about three quarters of the way down , and started working up the pools with a single pink hotspot nymph , nothing doing in the first few pools , searching all likely areas . .

I did put on a black klinkhammer prospecting the likely haunts , but today , no takers so back on with the nymph , and about half way up , the one deep pool that bends sharply with a high bank , I did locate some lovely ladies !!!!! In fact three in ten minutes , all on the pink beaded nymph , and deep as well , sizes from ten to twelve inches , superb fun . I did work that pool well and was only the three that played ball , fighting fit , and all released . . . . Spot on !

Some insect life showing about twoish , so did tie on a Parachute Adams prospecting again likely fishy places , again no takers . . .

Near the top , just down from the bridge , a brief sighting of an otter , great to see , but he wasn't hanging around and I think he saw me long before I saw him , wonder how he faired today ???

A fun two and a half hours , nice to be out on one of my regular beats , rivers looking a picture , and a nice flow to it , couple of days off , where to tomorrow , choices choices !!!!!
