5 x trout 7-10 inches, Duck's Dun and Rusty Klinkhammer. The stream is getting quite low now. For some reason this was one of the days when many lightly hooked fish come just off. There you go. Or rather there they went.

13 x trout 6-11 inches, Monnow Gosling. An early morning session after a warm and muggy night. River still high and slightly coloured after floods earlier this week. A large mayfly pattern still being taken with enthusiasm. All little fish fat and healthy, except one badly wounded by a bird attack. Nevertheless, it rose.

10 trout 6-11 inches, Monnow Gosling. A dull, humid day, the river fairly full and slightly coloured. Nothing rising, but a large fly seemed to work in bringing them up, so they must still have mayfly on their mind. A lot of 10 inch fish today, which is a good average size for this little stream. Where do they go when the mayfly aren't about?

Had a lovely day on the Bideford Brook. The water was slightly coloured and there was plenty of fly life on the stream including mayflies and smaller up-wings. Caught 3 trout on dry flies, fish were between 6-8 inches and all were released. Spotted a few larger fish in the deeper pools but couldn't tempt them with my offerings.

I caught another little browny at 5 inches but my 9 year old son caught his first wbt at 8 inches ,amazing, fished from 7pm until 9pm, mosquitos eating my arms through clothing ,bad smell coming from some pumping going on within what I thought was old railyard on map, smells like sewage, although stream is crystal clear with plenty of life, hope whatever it is does not make its way to stream

Fished from about 8:30 am til about 1 pm ,me and my young sons spent more time with our Griffith's Sparkle Gnat in the trees and bushes than in the water, but I managed to bring to hand a lovely brown trout at about 5 inches and lost about 4 more, quite a few small fish seen rising too. I should have wore long sleeves as arms covered in mosquito bites.seemed to be a lot of varied flying insects about, did not manage to try whole beat with kids, but look forward to going back in proper stealth mode. Also watch out for barbed wire when climbing in and out.
