Nine lovely fish, 3 fish 6-7inches,5 fish 9-10 inches and 1 fish 14 inches in beautiful condition. All fish returned safely. All fish taken on size 16 gold bead hares ear nymph. A fantastic day's fishing in perfect conditions, until a broken rod tip abruptly ended my day.

Great 2 hours fished between the second and third gates from bottom of beat. Managed two fish. The first was on a weighted shrimp and the second on a march brown spider cast to a rising fish. Fished between 10am to 12pm.

A grey day brightened by the capture of seven year old daughter Scarlett's first trout. Ten inches of speckled olive and built like an eel! I chipped in late in the day with a nice grayling.

Gave Chanstone a go as I've never fished it in winter. Heavy bugs took all fish one out of season brownie of 10 inches and four grayling, three of eight inches and one which I was shocked at of 16 inches. A heck of a good fish this far up the dore, fought very hard on my 6ft #2 rod.

Staying at Michealchurch Escley for the annual Christmas pilgrimage, took this chance to try at Chanstone, normally it would be Turnastone but no longer available. Terrible freezing rain, challenging wading, difficult banks to negotiate. Did have three takes but missed them all.

Tough going with poor access and trees. It will be a real job getting this beat up to standard. Plenty of fish rising, managed to catch two but rose others.

2 x trout 7-8 inches, Rusty Klinkhammer. Cloudy and humid weather, one or two showers. A tough session without much sign of life on the water (the two fish taken came from the same pool). Very much overgrown. We are definitely going to have to do some major pruning on this one come winter.

Reasonable flow and very inviting pools. Need to use chest waders to be able to progress along the river as bank access is limited due to the shrub growth inside the fence line. Was only able to make headway for 100 yds each side of bridge due to anno domini/lack of chest waders that day. Please note that WUF directions are misleadingly laborious from Abbey Dore, so, much better to go straight by main road to Vowchurch and then a short spurt to Chanstone Court (see OS map and reference). No fly life, or pulls from the deep, but scope in the shallower streamy water.....
