Well another glorious day , turned up at Court of Noke beat at eleven , bright sun , slight breeze , looked difficult conditions , so tackled up with two tiny size eighteen tungsten nymphs .
As I walked down to the start of the beat downstream , I did stop now and agiain just to see if any rises were obvious . It looked pretty quiet to be honest !!!!,
Starting at some of the runs that have produced before , had one small feisty brownie , about six inches , as always , lovely colours , and quickly released . Same pool , at the head , and ditto another cracking little fish again six or seven inches , admired then released .
I did not see a mayfly till about two ish , and then they were thin on the ground , Think I saw four in total !!!! Things will hot up no doubt very soon . I did see one splashy aggressive rise , in the bridge pool , possibly a good fish , hope he's there next week !!!!!
The other four fish were from prospecting the usual likely locations . Great fun on the two weight rod , and sizes from six to ten inches . No rises seen during my four hour session here , although I'm sure the next two weeks , the bonanza will begin !!!!!
Another lovely few hours on this beat , six lovely brownies caught and released , nothing big but still lovely to be out in our glorious Herefordshire country side , shall be back here on evening sessions over the next two weeks . . . . . . . .

Evening session, fishing from 6-8pm. Expecting lots of fly life and I wasn’t disappointed, with plenty about, but absolutely no fish rising at all. Persevered with the dry and pulled one Grayling around 10inches from a run. Nice to be out anyway.

Well bowled up at about half ten , gorgeous day , plenty of insect life walking up to the top of the beat . Been a while since I've done this one , and was nice to tackle up initially with my tiny tungsten nymphs , see how things go !!!!!
As I worked the first small pools , a few rises started to appear , so ringed the changes , and opted for duo , a rusty Klinkhammer as my dry and a small tungsten PTN as my dink !! One cracking rise kept appearing close to a large willow , well under the shade , so cast as close as I dare to the tree branches , and he hammered the dry as soon as it settled on the water , and a great run around on the two weight rod as well . . . . Gorgeous Arrow brownie , quickly admired then released , must have been thirteen inches , and tubby too !
Again , wading slowly upstream , I targeted another splashy rise , and positioned myself , to alight the dry as covertly as I could . Another good take on the klinkhammer , and another beautifully marked brownie .
Rises seemed to Slow down about midday , as it was touching 22 degrees , and switched to two size eighteen nymphs , prospecting likely trouty places . . . . . Two more followed , both about five or six inches , but still fun to catch on my old six foot two weight . . . . . .
The last fish was not far from the bridge , the top end of the beat , and I was being angrily watched by a lone swan , that didn't seemed at all impressed that I was on his turf !!!!!!!
Was a really fun four hours , the river is absolutely alive at the moment , and running at the perfect height . I'm sure the nettles will be even heighter in a month , but I did try and swathe down a section of the walk way to try and make things easier for others . Some Himalayan balsam starting to show in the usual areas , dam stuff !!!!
Well hopefully in two or three weeks the mayfly madness will start , and this beat is a cracker , looking forward to it , happy days . . . . . . . .

A few hours at Noke today, I agree with the previous post, this stretch needs a little less water on it. The water was quite coloured, making wading in the deep pools difficult. I started on dry and was soon rewarded with a beautiful 12 inch fish, sadly that was the only one. I persevered with dry for most of the day, switching to nymph later on. There were sporadic hatches but I didn't see a single fish rise all day.

As the level had dropped slightly and weather glorious (too bright!), took a walk along and managed 1 trout to gold head nymph. Still a tinge of colour and would benefit from a few inches less water. Lovely way to spend a few hrs in the sunshine though.
