Parked up towards the pub due to work being done in the usual parking spot. No bother, 3 minute walk. Couldn't wish for a better September day. River unusually quiet in terms of natural flies and rising fish.
Using a variety of dry flies - like many anglers I default to 2 or 3 flies but tried 7 different dry patterns and everything worked. Size 14 hook was consistent though, and everything natural looking and no bling!
Caught consistently throughout the session and landed 18 wbt. 5" to 13" and every size in between.
Wonderful way to end the season, thank you WUF for giving me and so many other anglers days we look forward to and always enjoy.

Fished this stream on the way home from hols, spent just a couple of hours here. Trout caught on small Adams dry, caught parr just above the first bridge on Rhyacophila nymph. I did a brief invert sample and was really pleased to see loads of caddis, Ecdyonurus torrentis and some small stoneflies. River looking good.

A nice beat but only managed to get as far as the foot bridge due to a late start. River on its bones today and I would like to come back when there 's a bit more water.

A great session on this fabulous stretch and on a perfect fishing day: warm and away from the prevailing north-west wind although the water level is getting low. I fished the entire main section from the bridge from 10am and there were almost no fish showing and little evident fly activity. Initially no joy with a small Hares Ear nymph but when I switched to a parachute Grey Duster and cast to likely spots in slow pools and faster runs, fish came up for it. Most of the trout were about 6ins long but also caught one real fighter of 3/4lb in lovely glide towards the top bridge. I then drove up to the top 700 yrd section which looked in greater need of water but still produced a couple of fish. A very dramatic stretch with some very deep pools.
About 11 trout plus two salmon parr.

A beautiful day in a beautiful valley. Fished with 8 year old daughter Scarlett, and spent most of my time teaching her bad casting habits. A few mayfly about but nothing much rising to them. Stuck on an Adams, as usual, and we managed to hook 4 and miss a lot more. Failed in all of the best looking pools, also as usual, but managed to find a few here and there who refused to be frightened off by our clumsy approach. Only fished up as far as the bridge before the common, before wandering back along the wild flowered lane to the truck. On the way back to the main road we passed a sign saying "danger, young lambs", to which Scarlett exclaimed "I didn't know lambs were dangerous!"

Good fish caught on a small grey duster in the pool below the falls near the bottom. A few mayfly hatching, but the fish weren't going for them. Shortly afterwards, I fell on some slippery rocks and got very wet, so the day ended early.
Will return soon, but with a wading stick.

Fished the other half of the beat further up the road in the afternoon. Caught trout mainly on the nymph, only the occasional fish rising.
