Not much about. No fly or fish to see. Only gave it a couple of hours as cold and breezy.

The river was a good height but running crystal clear after the mid week deluge.
8 trout 4 to 8 inches all caught on a copper beaded nymph fished duo.
A few olives hatching after 1 when the sun was out and the temperature rose a few degrees.

Gave the Duhonw a bash this morning , three hours there , was superb fun , River nice height when I tackled up with my usual small streams outfit at about half nine , things looked promising as I left the truck and mooched down to the beat start . . . . . .

I did notice from about half ten some LDO' s already on the move , good to see and maybe boding well for later . . . I initially fish a single gold head nymph , Holy Grail , and my first Duhonw brownie was from the tail of a deep pool great little scrapper , and about eight inches , looked tubby and in great shape , seeing as its so early here , and the water was still cold . . . .

Second fish of the morning was further up , near the first bridge you come too , with the strange array of culverts under the bridge to release the water , great scrap again , this time tail of that pool , on the Parachute Adams , really hammered it too , again about eight inches , I was a little surprised , but there was a good smattering of Olives by then , probably mid day ish !!!

I did do a kick sample of the river bed into my net , and its full of life , lots of gammurus , and stonefly creepers , the odd caddies ; great to see . . . A really fun three hours , will be back when it warms up here , and I think surface sport will be fun , if the one I had on the top was to go by , spot on. Back soon !!!!!!

After weeks of hot weather and no rain I knew that it wouldn’t be a good time to fish… but I had a free day… you know how it is. Slightly overcast compared to the last few weeks of blue skies. Muggy, but not too bad, but the stream was (as to be expected) down to its bare bones. It was a bit like fishing in puddles, and as the Duhonw flows mainly over rock the water was exceptionally clear, which made it near impossible not to scare fish away. The element of surprise was non existent.

And I saw lots of very skittish fish, flying around the few pools there were. I tried dry for a bit, and had a bit of interest, but reverted back to the tried and tested nymph off a Klinkhammer indicator. Most of the fish (small up to 6”) were caught in the morning session. Had to leave around 6pm, not sure I would have caught any more. I thought the pools below the main bridge road may have coughed up a few more fish, but no. A great day though.

Fished for a couple of hours around midday. Not much flylife just the occasional olive. Water level quite low after all the rain and very clear. 2 trout around 6 inches on bead head nymph from the 2 bridge pools.

A beat of three-thirds that I have not fished before. Bottom and top thirds are gorges over bed rock. The top particularly reminded me of Clettwr. I walked to the beat start but I wouldn't recommend it unless you are into rock climbing as the descent to the water was challenging. Also fishing the gorges was very challenging with gin-clear water and a low flow. All fish caught in the middle third which had a nice set of pools. Best fish was a feisty 12" WBT from the deepest pool. Walk back to the car was long and along busy roads.
