water low as expected. No fly life to see, and minimal rises over the two hours I was on the water. Two fished hooked and lost, but I'm getting old I guess. Parachute adams.

Wasn't sure where to go today .... thought of maybe the Hindwell or the Arrow, but have done lots of driving with clients over the last week or two, so opted for my local old favourite, the Edw !!!
Twas fishing or The Game Fair ... which, from mid Wales, to Warwickshire, is a two day camel ride, and in fairness you don't get the deals you used to get in years gone by .... shop prices, whilst jostling with townies in their sparkling Dubarry boots and Barbour jackets!!! Lol .....
Anyway, the fishing ... water temp at 14 degrees , good news, but she is mega low and clear ...Ninja wading here of the slowest order !!! Tricky stuff , if you're not into stealth, get yourself on a bigger stream or wait till we've had plenty of rain, is my good advice !!!
But, where i could sneak in a cast, with tiny dries, bang, lovely confident takes !! Sedge and olives on the go from midday ... lovely to see dippers and three young kingfishers !!! Hope they don't get a taste for young trout !!!! Lol ........
Eight to mh net, three very respectable fish too, and that gorgrous buttery colouring. Superb stuff.
Leaves are starting to drop, and grey squirrels happily cracking open Hazel nuts above me !! Autumn nearly here folks ....A fab four hours from half eleven to half three , on another one tommoz hopefully, then guiding a gent out in the Elan Valley and a mountain lake next week .... Happy days !!!!!

Three nice trout on the Mayfly. Many more hooked but unable to land. Also, in clear water, trout can take a good look at the fly before deciding that it is artificial, and returning to the bottom of the river. Despite low water, the beat is entirely fishable

Took my son along for his first foray into wild stream fishing, I think he was more impressed with the setting than the prospect of catching fish!!!!!
Arrived about 10.00 am and plenty of fly life on the water, river very low and gin clear, it was going to be a tough day!
Searched all the usual lies, foam lines, riffles, rocks, undercut banks, nothing doing. Two 8” beauties taken on GRHE in the slackest water you could imagine!!
A few mayflies coming off but anything rising seemed to be far more interested in the smaller up wings coming off, but couldn’t get closer than 20’ without them disappearing, will need a far stealthier angler than me to catch them!!
An excellent day spent on one of my favourite beats, such a beautiful place to spend a day and my son thoroughly enjoyed it.

Bowled up at a favourite at about quarter to one. Fifteen degrees and sunny....again !!! In the morning, I'd had a recce of the Elan Valley, not good conditions for having a good day chasing Welsh Gold, and , on top of that a huge area of the moorland above Claerwen, going over to Tregaron direction has been on fire for a couple of days !! Lots of smoke in the Cwm Elan ....Hats off to the firefighters slogging it over the past few days up there with the choppers as well ....Tough work...
The fishing between one and just gone four way sublime, even on a very low Edw ..Lots of bugs about, medium olives, grannom and Brook duns out on parade ...Lovely takes to my dry, but slow slow wading required to have success!!! Five beauties made it to my net, three of them really nice fish, over ten inches and strong..Pleased with that result in such tricky conditions... Looks like a change on Monday folks, weather wise, Hallelujah!!! South west wind, and rain !!@ Bliss.... A fun session on a peaceful spring Edw .... back sooooooooon !!!!!

Low water, a bit of rain needed.
Challenging fishing, for me at least. Fish seen in the deeper pools, but nothing rising until early afternoon. 1 trout about 7 inches long on the dry fly. Nothing touched nymphs on this occasion.
Only 1 fish caught but many trees.
Beware the slippery stones on the river bed, studs would help if wading. Be careful too when entering the beat from the bank, barbed wire has to be crossed, low down but it could hole waders if you're not careful.
