had a good ramble today , plenty of fly on the water, mayfly , olives, midge , stonefly and several rising trout and grayling as I arrived during a steady hatch of mayfly. half a dozen fell for cdc mayfly the rest to nymph as the hatch had ended within half hour and the rises ceased. I lost several other trout to hook pulls also. this beat is quite overgrown now and glad I fished it early , within a couple more weeks will be very dense with foliage . size between7-12 inches with the majority 9 inches.

Very good to be back out on the rather lovely Lynfi and looking just great in the spring sunshine. No mayfly yet that I saw but where a few olives and stoneflies popping off here and there and enough to keep the fish looking up and the old tried and trusted para' Adams in a 16 did the job very well as usual.
The fish where all in fabulous condition, plump and all punched more than well above their size. It seemed to me the average fish size was up this season, apart from a couple of 6 inchers the rest where up around the 9 to 11inch mark . Could be some very interesting fishing late summer , hope so!
Lots of the other smaller fish bumped off and a good few of the larger chaps still too.
Good numbers of fry observed. Hopefully trout.
I find by experience that its the top approx 1/3 of the beat to the boundary that fishes the best and a fantastic stretch to fish . Once your in the water up by Tregunter farm you can wade up all the way to the boundary in low/lowish water and its riffle, run, pool sequence all the way and more than a good few hours worth at least doing the heron walk.
Looking forward to when the mayflies up . That will be even more fun.!
Many thanks again WUF.

A few small trout were brought to hand and several lost on what is quite a physically demanding beat access wise, still a favoured beat none the less.
3 wbt to eight ins.

Disappointing if beautiful day, water possibly still a bit high and coloured resulting in a lot of scrambling in and out of the river, steady hatch of small upwing flies and the occasional monster stone fly made me think that it could all come alive at any moment, but it didn't.

Been a while since last here and has certainly grown on some, been a good growing season! .It was a bit tricky to find a clear way through it first (discounting the camp field stretch...too busy on the site) but crossing over to the left bank via the sheep drink just where the camping fields end and then walking up that field and then in to the small field after this there is a way through in to the river here (just !) and brings you on to the river just below dog leg a to the right (see pic ) where there is a very good and attractive pool ! A good number of good sized fish where in the pool here and then its wadeable for quite a way up until I got to some very deep pools and had to get out , which was interesting ! The banks where a bit socked in again for quite a way so soldiered on to the back of the Tregunter farm area and here the banks open out and there is a series of really very good runs and pools just perfect for a dry and a good number of fish within.
Absolutely great fun and all the fish where of good size up to 11" and all fell for the old faithful size 16 para adams , even though there was very little hatching they would come up for it very well indeed just fished blind in to likely spots. Plenty were missed too on the strike as they really nailed the fly at times.
A pair of kingfishers being busy up and down all afternoon and a red kite overhead at tree top height just added to a lovely afternoon ! Loads of minnows in the river too.

A shared rod, booked lower and middle beats. Parked at middle beat and walked down to just above camp site on lower. Access limited fishing but still found enough to bring three wbt 6-8 ins to hand. Abundant fly life through the beat but nothing taking the yellow and white mayfly. A certain confusion was caused at a pool on a bend where frenzied feeding was taking place but could not work out what on, tried all but to no avail. All others fell to a "Grizzly" , new to me and blue/ grey para Adam size 16. All returned safely.

Water visibility about 6" after rain and with hindsight this was not a good beat choice given the deluge the night before. Other streams would have benefited from more water but I guess agri-field run-off made for muddy water here. Fished with a dry fly for 2 hours only and moved further up the system for the afternoon.

Fished up from confluence for about 2 hours. Did not see any signs of life but did see a very large stone fly.
