First ever time on a wild stream and although I didn’t catch anything it was still a very enjoyable few hours . Plenty of new experiences and certainly plenty of room for improvement with casting in restricted spaces!
Administration of the booking was seamless and good instructions on how to access the river.

After such a poor experience on Pilleth yesterday, it didn't seem worth the trouble going. Went to Clun instead which was a lot better for access

River was I great condition with loads of fly life on the water. 1 trout caught on a nymph and 2 missed. Didn't quite get to the top of the beat but would certainly visit again.

First time on this beat and a dry day at last. River still quite high but fishable. Plenty of fly life and a few fish rising. A nice 7” WBT netted and safely returned. One fish lost and another missed. The barbed wire and access make it a bit of a challenge but an enjoyable afternoon in beautiful countryside.

Initially fished club water this morning on the Upper Lugg , just down from the Litton beat , so nice to combine the two !!! Fished from half nine to half one and cool and overcast in the hills when I started on the club section . Just had two on the tiny flashback PTN ,then one on the Parachute Greenwells when insect activity started at eleven , and some LDO's started to show !

On the Litton beat , by the time I started on there some nice splashy rises , so fished just over half the beat with just the Parachute dries . Stealth needed and a lot of casting from the kneeling position !!! Water low and Gin clear , so care needed here to get a cast away delicately . . . . .

Was fun here with five feisty little fish, nothing big and ranged between seven and nine inches , looks like a good blast of rain due in Monday !!! All day looking at the forecast !! So I think back up Claerwen Reservoir next week while the rivers settle me thinks !!! Or maybe a yomp across the moors t
Up there to either Gynon or Gwngu , see how energetic I'm feeling !!! Fun few hours today ,always a chill out in the Lugg valley, happy days !!

Fished from 12-3 on a sunny and virtually windless day. The river was low and gin clear.
This was my first time on a wild stream beat and it took a while to work out how to tackle it, needless to say I spooked a few fish!
There was very little hatching but turning over a stone or two showed plenty of aquatic life.
In the end both fish came to an olive bead head nymph from the deeper pools.

3 small trout on dry fly, conditions on the lower stretch were challenging to say the least with a number of fallen trees across the river and very overgrown.

Mooched off to the Lugg best this morning , early bells ,fishing a neighbouring club water before the WUF section , breezy this morning and overcast reading twelve degrees in my truck ,initially opting for tiny tungsten nymphs. . . . .

River has a reasonable flow but so clear and wading had to be at a snail's pace this morning, seriously hard fishing, that and the crazy growth thats over much of the decent pools now , a real mess to be honest !!!! And a lot if pools totally altered and reshaped, some for the better !

On to the fishing , had five on the club beat prior to starting at the bottom of the wild stream permit beat , and a fun morning already, three on nymphs , two.on parachute iron blue, lovely takes too !!!the motion continued on the upper WUF beat ,although the hard bit was finding a pool you could get the dry out onto with decent presentation!!!! It's a bit like the Arrow ,Monkland beat here at the mo !! Still ,i persevered up stream , and with carefull wading was rewarded with eight beauties this morning , raging in size from.five to eleven inches , always got a good fight in them the Lugg brownies , great fun !!!

With the wild growth, it sort of spoilt the morning too be fair , this needs a good haircut, big time , only did half the beat , then cut out nearly opposite Litton Farmhouse , and headed straight up the fields back to my truck, and a quick drink and snack before heading home, a fun six hours on the Lugg ,cracking stuff !!! A wild Llyn I think next week, with these rivers so low , happy days !!!
