Complete blank today. Very cold easterly wind which lasted all day, although it did warm up after 1.00pm. To my surprise there was a fish rising for anything that floated by including catkin buds and as I had left my willow catkin fly at home, anything I put at it, it turned it's nose up and ignored it!!

River was I good condition, clear and normal levels. Managed to tempt a solitary small brown on a PTN.

The Brook was higher and flowing faster than a few weeks ago, water slightly coloured which with the faster flow made things a bit harder. No joy in the morning, but slight improvement in the afternoon, persistence paid off with 2 WBT, both on beaded nymph.
Nice end to the trout season.

Good day, but the stream is still low, but lovely and clear. Two WBT plus one Perch and big surprise a Rudd!! All on nymph. Quite a few takes especially in the afternoon.
Farmer still has cows in the field and the electric fence is still on, but no problems gaining access.

Water level is really low but a great day out anyway. I did some brownies rising in the afternoon and got a couple fish on the Adams size 14.

Lovely damp Autumn morning with the brook up a few inches and very coloured from the rain over the previous days. Managed to catch three beautiful conditioned trout up to 9" on a beaded GRHE. Tough going due to the height and colour of the brook especially when wading in unknown areas of the beat. Frustrating also that access is so restricted. Barbed wire to crawl under to access above the bridge! Electric fence all the way up the field to the next public stile where you then have to limbo dance under an insulated section of the wire to head back down the field to my starting point of access. Then more barbed wire to deal with!!! The cows had flattened certain section of the beat prior to the installation of the electric fence which did prove useful. Sign at the parking point warning of a bull being in the field so had to be watchful as I had to walk on his side of the fence prior to starting fishing that area of the beat and obviously my return to the car.
As mentioned, 3 lovely trout to the nymph but after an hour things went very quiet and the colour became darker with no offers.

Spent a few hours on the brook, weather was dry and sunny. River was in good condition, crystal clear and at the normal level for this time of the year. Caught mostly on dry dropper on a PTN, then switched to a dry only around midday as the trout started to feed regularly on the surface. Largest fish was around 11 to 12 inches. All fish returned safely.

First time on this beat and it looked a little coloured from rain previous day. However, carried on and glad to do so. Lovely river and surroundings. As I prefer a longer rod than suggested as I find it gives better control, used roll casts and “bow and arrow” technique to avoid the trees and bushes (most of the time!). Only saw 2 or 3 fish rising so made do with the duo. Covered approximately a third of the beat as I had to leave early.

Lovely spot, although quite overgrown and could have done with a shorter rod (than 7 ft) to avoid trees and bushes. Some fish rising and where I could reach they were interested in the small grey wolf, others caught on nymph under a dry fly. Great way to spend a couple of hours after work. Thanks W&U
