2 small fish on spiders in the afternoon. Waited until 8 for a hoped-for rise but it stayed very slow and I missed the 3 splashy risers that took pity on me. There was an earlier report which mentioned the cattle. Those of a timid disposition can take comfort from the fencing between the bank and field.

A couple seen along the Vanstone but none caught. Great fly height. Right bank access above the Lower Lines/Windmill to the top limit is not possible. Great day out.

Fished very hard, fished multiple pegs and baited them in advance before moving. Would recommend taking some float gear, lovely glides.

Beautiful day on the river.
Caught 30+ chub all day , various tactics but favourite method .. waders on, meat on the stick float, sun shining, in the shadow of the castle... HEAVEN ON EARTH!!
Decent barbel half way through day and got snapped on a better one ...the one that got away ehh? it was that big!!!

Float fishing for chub. We caught so many we lost count.

The path leading to the pegs was fairly overgrown.

Beautiful day. Most swims hard to access but got into the first two on the upper beat relatively comfortably. Used 3oz feeders with hair rigged meat for the chub and the barbel took a halibut pellet. Fished to the nearside crease for the chub and found the barbel a bit further out into the main flow.

1 Barbel, 11 Chub
