Rain and wind came in and stayed for the day. I fished 4 AAA waters today. Nothing at the first three, but plenty of action at Llyn Craiypistyll. Fish were interested in a large hopper fly drawn through the waves. Only managed one to the net, but it made a tough day worthwhile.

River had gone up approx 6 inches since last Saturday. We tried two different swims, tried very hard using scaled down tactics but failed to catch any barbel on our favourite Wye & Usk beat. Just one solitary chub was poor reward for our efforts.

One barbel and 6 small chub. All caught on feeder and pellet.

There is very little flow in the river so inevitably the fishing was difficult.

I must mention the work that Stefan the bailiff is doing. Swims have been opened up to make them much more accessible. Parking is clearly signed and many swims even have a rope to help access.

Drizzle and showers all day, but not as bad as forecasted. Up stream breeze that fluked about in late afternoon. Slight tinge to water colour. Some rises throughout the day but not consistent. Fished nymphs and spiders, in various combinations, through the faster water. Fish caught on both patterns.

14 chub between one & 4 pounds + 1 eel all caught on feeder and meat.
