Fished from the the lower end of the beat upwards and managed six nice trout of 9 to 12 inches and four smaller 4 to 5 inchers. A beaded caddis pupa was the most successful fly. Great fun despite the rain.

Drizzle and cool, not promising but the river did yield 4 WBT (6 - 9inches - all safely returned) to deep gold head nymph. An interesting new beat and a lot of river for your money. I did see one swallow. Looking forward to returning when the fish are rising.

A lovely looking stretch of water. The banks are hemmed in by barbed wire fences but I missed most of this by wading up the river. Although shallow and streamy there was enough depth to hide fish. Six fish landed, largest eleven inches. I fished with a short line so as to keep close contact with the flies which were an assortment of beaded nymphs fished on point and a single dropper. Lost 2 fish and landed one other that was foul hooked under the chin (struck a little late, perhaps. Not counted in total).
Only got as far as the wood so will definitely return.

Again I only managed a couple of hours fishing between 2 and 4pm. This beat is easy wading and the parking and access is great. I only fished bridge to bridge and didn't see a single fish rise, but fishing a size 18 hares ear quite deep I hooked and landed 4 trout, 2 of which were about 11/12 inches. I also pricked 2 fish in a fast run and it was a satisfying challenge getting out on these small streams once again, covering every inch of water with a flick of the wrist. The sound of sheep, spring birds and low flying aircraft really let me know where I was, and I can't wait to get back to the Arrow again.

I have to agree with the previous angler: this is a truly beautiful spot but the fishing is hard. I've fished the Arrow for a number of years and this beat seems un-typical because it comprises a lot of fast water with few glides and pools. Today with a foot or so of extra water pushing through it was too fast to fish many spots. What worries me is that as the water level drops this beat will slow down but be too shallow to fish usual methods. There was a little fly life with some olives floating down but no trout rising. I hooked and lost a good fish on a tungsten PTN fishing traditional down and across but nothing else worked. I'm unsure about this beat as it does not compare with the other Arrow beats in terms of river topography. There are also many barbed wire fences to vault with wader damage likely BEWARE!

Good water with a little colour. Thought nymphs would work but no takes. More recce than fishing. Much fast water above Titley bridge but nothing in possibly the best holding pool in Lyonshall Wood - then saw a possible culprit as bloated Cormorant bolted after hiding for a while. Nice looking beat hope fishing improves.
