I wonder who is going to be the first to catch a fish on this beat this year?, 4 anglers have tried and 4 have failed!. But I did meet someone who has caught plenty here but he had four legs and whiskers so that doesn't really count. Yet another of the irfons beats destroyed but otters!. Checking my diary i last fished here 8 years ago and had 32 fish in 2 visits , oh I times have changed! , the beat has changed as well, the top end is only accessible with low water due to all the barbed wire fences and I was certainly low today and very clear which helped me see absolutely nothing!. Sorry about the moaning but I say how it is, anyway it was great too be back in Wales my last adventure was on the river Test and that is a complete joke of a river give me the wild waters of Wales any day!. Thanks WUF for having me this week, it been a challenge.

Overcast but enjoyable days fishing albeit with no fish caught. Saw 2/3 fish jump 200 yards down from The Vanstone and 1 fish opposite the Corner tree. Good conditions and The V running well but no fish. First day fishing on the last day of the season. That’s as good as it got this season.

Lovely day in such a beautiful setting. River quite low but managed some fish on meat in the faster water. A privilege to be here. Thank you also to the church for their generosity in parking.

Only spent a couple hours in the end. A bit of euronymphing and one little grayling for my efforts.

Water very clear, all fish came on feeder and pellet, my colleague blanked.

A quiet, still & rather grey afternoon, brightened by autumn colours. Couldn’t locate the larger grayling.

poor day .. not a bite except for a little perch returned last cast of day...

water was low and clear, weather was overcast. But fishing was very slow unfortunately. 3 Barbel to 7lb and 1 Chub.
