2 trout from Middleton section, both safely returned

Three wild brown trout on dry fly. A few fish rising but did not fish past 6pm.

A lovely morning, nicely cloudy and cold when I started at 05.00. Several residents playing in Vanstone and managed to turn 3 fish in upper Vanstone, 2 to the fly and one to a flying C, all before 08.00. Nothing moving further upstream and by 10.30 it was very busy with canoes, all very polite, but I have never connected with a salmon at Goodrich Court once the canoes are out. Left at 12.00 when it became very sunny. River level good, below 0.5 at Ross, water very coloured.

1 barbel on the float on meat. Plenty of chub on feeder and float.

Hot, bright day, plenty of good average sized Chub (3 - 4lb) on meat. Also caught an eel.

Lovely location. Bright sunshine all day. So not great conditions for barbel.
Fished till lunchtime. 6 small chub on 8mm spicy sausage.
More than enough swims to access. Bit of a walk to deeper section from orchard parking on a hot day.

Managed to get down for a couple of hours after work and had one WBT around 10in on a small nymph. A warm evening and river running crystal clear. A few fish rising, but no takes on the dry flies. Stunning stretch of the USK, very tranquil
