A real treat to watch an otter giving her young cub a swimming lesson. He preferred skipping along the bank! Also the largest number of sand martins I have ever seen. They were well fed from a trickle of various olives, mayflies and yellow mays all afternoon. And the fishing was good. All caught on dries.

evening session at rock pool. Fly and spin but to no avail. Not sure what is going on in this pool as it produced some good sport last season

Not ideal fishing conditions in the morning so took opportunity to explore the RH bank upstream of Erwood (seemed accessible only wading up river from the Clettwr) and the LH bank of the beat (only managed the beach where the Bachawy joins) will probably need an OS map and more time/conviction from me. Couple of hours after lunch swinging weighted point fly and wets in the pools around the bend at Erwood had the occasional pluck, missed take and a couple of fish

What a great day we had! I love this beat and Shaun and Helen are so welcoming and helpful, I couldn't recommend it enough.

The water was a good height and clear, the day started a bit slower as we were fishing nymphs with a couple of fish caught but towards the mid-late afternoon we had some great sport on the dries. A 17" Out of Season Grayling was a pleasant surprise to have on the dry, it was quickly released.. The trout were all also of decent size ranging between 8 and 12 inches and not too picky, we had them on a number of dry fly variations between small CDCs, parachutes and general mayfly patterns.

Bright day on a low and stained river. Don't know where the stain came from. Caught a Trout, Chub and a shad but no silver tourist again for me

River low now but always a chance here. Saw a fish rise at the bottom of the rectory pool but didn't have a touch
