Lots of fish seen but I found it very difficult to avoid spooking them with the very low water. 2 trout caught on tungsten bead PTN and 1 on a cdc dry fly.

I fished mainly with dry fly. Water was quite low and conditions bright, hence a difficult day.

Water gin-clear today, with very low flow, so worked upstream searching the remaining deep pools; caught/released a 9" brown trout below the old castle mound. Witnessed the largest and most varied fly hatch ever in my experience - had four mayflies on an arm at one time! Spent the afternoon upstream from the bridge but the river strangely sterile - no usual shoals of small grayling nor sight of any trout. Saw an adult mink on the gravel near the upstream end of the beat - the culprit ???

Cool and breezy and river was very clear. Few flies hatching but only saw 4 trout rise. Caught 3 small trout on a nymph . Scenic stretch of river with plenty of bird life.

Arrived at eleven to see 4 inches of snow around the hills at Pilleth, water temp with the snow melt was absolutely freezing cold. Beat looks fantastic now, floods before Christmas have cleaned a lot of debris away. Will not fish well for a while I feel. Will give it another go around May time when temps have risen. Still to me one of the better beats on the wild stream pass along with it's neighboring beat the Litton. Though a blank, a pleasant blank.
