Fished from 0900—1200. Dry at first then rain set in. Not much fly life given the changeable weather recently and it was a few degrees cooler than the day before. The odd trout was rising, but I couldn't work out what they were taking. A couple of trout up to 8" came to a ptn, both released.

Fished 2pm-5
A beautiful warm slightly overcast day. Fished duo, dry and nymph on long leader.
Loads of fly life and a steady hatch of Mayfly throughout. Interestingly I didn’t see any Mayfly taken of the surface with other upswings selected instead.
All fish taken in the first 200m of stream after that only a couple of rising fish seen and nothing on the nymph.
The blurb was right with the average size of fish being bigger than the norm for a small stream.
The nice 14 inch Grayling was sight-fished from a deep slow pool the trout from the heads of pools. One trout to a dry the others and the Grayling to a Maynymph.

River in good shape with plenty of insect activity including a few may flies. There were very few rises and there did not seem to be much fish activity.

Very bright, abundant fly life, incl mayfly (and a hornet!), fish mostly down in deeper pools. A glorious spot.
Two fish caught (1x grayling, 1x trout) & returned. One mink seen

First time on this very promising water. Fished late afternoon/early evening. Few fish rising. Several fish flashed at flies but reluctant to take. Only one very small brown landed.

I and another Wild Stream Permit holder (P.D.) sampled this beat today starting at 1 PM. It was very hot and sunny and no rises were seen until later in the afternoon. I had a number of refusals using a Wyatt DHE and solid take with a red tag but lost the fish, which was probably an os grayling. The river is teeming with fry and fingerlings which, hopefully, bodes well for the future. The banks are very overgrown with nettles, brambles, and large swathes of Himalayan Balsam. I think that fishing is likely to prove very challenging in a few weeks time owing to the growth of the Bankside vegetation.

We did a recce upto Llynfi Talgarth in the morning where we met and had a chat with Kim Tribe but decided to fish Pontithel as Talgarth was very over grown. Plenty of fly life including a few May fly but again nothing rising. Caught a few on weighted nymphs until we came across a few fish rising.
Ended up casting to 3 Trout in as many metres, lost 2 acrobatic ones and landed 1 nice fish around 12 inches on a small F fly.
Found fish rising in the top pool and landed 1 Grayling.
