Second early morning this week and a reasonably successful couple of hours. As per the beat description, the water flow seemed very healthy, which is rather at odds with most rivers at the moment! Nice fish of a reasonable average size for a small stream; all taken on a nymph under a dry but I missed more than I caught, a couple failing to stick to the dry in the duo system and a couple not quite hooked. I didn't cover a great deal of the beat which looks long, but very enjoyable, would love to return but it is a reasonable distance for me. That said, hoping to be in furthest west Wales next weekend!

Wow !!!!! Another's scorcher when I turned up at ten , would have been nice to have fished earlier , but had some garden chores to get done before the bright ball in the sky started beating down . . .

Water was running at a reasonable height considering , and very very clear , The Hindwell has some very deep pools , eroded in to the fine gravel so it's nice to be able to still work them , that said a bit of water wouldn't go amiss !!!!!!

Initially rigged up my six foot , two weight with two tiny beaded nymphs , PTN and GRHE variant , and in the first likely pool had a lovely fish on , very spirited two on the lightweight rod , perhaps twelve inches maybe , great start . . . . . .

I did see a rise in a nice semi open pool , big tree down in the middle , and rise was naturally the other side of where I was . . . Always are aren't they !!!!! Anyway quickly tied on a parachute Adams , and he take it with a satisfying splashy take , clever fish on . . . . . He only went straight under the submerged tree and bye bye , off he went . . . Cest la vie !!!!!!

I did keep the Adams on and prospect casting to likely areas , also given with viewing pools ahead and chilling for a while , see if the was an surface activity . Very else was showing , so back on with the nymphs , and had another feisty Hindwell resident on , perhaps eight or nine inches , lovely colours , although slightly different spots from the Arrow fish , but still beautiful brownies !!!!!

Was a fun few hours , I did wade quite a way up , was nice being in the cool water , and of course a refreshing face wash every now and again , sorted . I called it a day at two , was nice to give this little Brook a bash again , two pristine, feisty brownies caught and released , it was time to head back to the Ponderosa and crack open a cider , enjoy the fizzy CO2 , while it lasts !!!!!!! What could be better , a few hours on the water followed by a few cool amber nectars !!!!!! Happy days . . . . . . . . .

Only fished for 2 hours in the evening, a good few fish rising, just my poor casting that only hooked the one fish. A good size for the Hindwell, around 16 inches.

As I hadn’t fished this beat before, and as a Father’s Day treat before breakfast, I fished a very small section of this lovely beat for a couple of hours. Some lovely looking pools, which would benefit from a slight pruning around. However, managed 3 where pools were more accessible and i didn’t mess up back cast. Will return to explore further next time!

fished from 10am- 2.30pm. all trout taking aqua baetis with 2.8mm bead on size 18 jig between 10.30a.m - 1.45 p.m. plenty of fly on water , midge, olives , sedge, mayfly . i have fished here only once before and noticed the lack of surface activity and today was the same, even with the overcast conditions the trout really are reluctant to rise. size between 7-13 inches with a fair few lost at the net also. the sun switched on at 1.45p.m and killed the sport instantly.

Fished from 7.30 for 2 hours or so. Packed with Mayflies of all descriptions, only saw a few rises though. Snatched the only 2 takes I had, which serves me right. River was still up about 30-50 mm from the rains Friday, and a little coloured too which surprised me.

Well after my local Arrow , Pinsley and Lugg wild streams beats , was nice to give the Hindwell Brook a go . . . .

When I turned up at about half ten , stream was running pretty clear considering the rainfall last night !!! In fact it looked an absolute picture . Looking over the bridge for a while , I didn't see any surface activity and in fact very few mays on the wing !!

I tackled up with my usual six foot two weight , and a single tiny tungsten pheasant tail , with a view to prospecting likely places . Some of the pools are very deceptive here and deep , and the gravel gradient into them is steep , as I nearly found out , and almost went a pearler !!!!!

The water quality looked superb , and after a brief shower , there were a few upwings and midges showing in places , only seeing one splashy rise the whole time I was there .

I did take the fist brownie in the head of a deep pool , feisty little tubby fish of about eight inches , lovely colouration , and quickly released .the same happened in the following pool , and ditto in size , real scrappers !!

I had another two in the section before it is barbed wire and electric fencing on either side of the Brook , was happy with a tally of four on a first visit to this beat , and so near too , can't believe I've let this one slip !!!!

Shall return again and may park past Knill farm next time , to cover the rest of the beat , was a fun three hours , and shall return again. . . . . . Great fun !!!!!

My first time on the Hindwell. Not much fly life about and few fish rising. Very overgrown and many trees across the river too, so not an easy one to fish, also for such a small stream there are some very deep pools so beware. I managed to catch 6 wbt to a dry fly - all quite small though.

NB - note to WUF, there is a lot of Himalayan Balsam on this beat.

Still 28 degrees when I arrived at 19.00.
3 nice trout around 8 inches on tungsten bead nymph.
Good flow with the usual grey tinge.
A good pruning would help this beat and could open up some nice runs and pools.

Tricky day with nothing showing and a chilling downstream wind. Surprisingly little action with just one fingerling hooked on weighted nymph. Nice water with doubtless potential for the patient and cautious
