Nil return, unforunately. Fantastic service from the Foundation. River and area are stunning and I'm really looking forward to coming back.

River too high for comfortable wading. Gusty wind. Sparse hatch of March Brown & olives around 2.00 p.m. No surface activity. One good fish hooked on March brown nymph [est 1 1/2 lb]. 2 other pulls, otherwise nothing to report. Other rod fishing had one pull. Water needs to warm up. Sight of March Browns encouraging-hope to see more of these in future. Normally fish near Abergavenny, haven, tseen many March Browns down there for many a season. Difficult day, but things can only get better. Certainly beats going round M&S with the wife!!

R30 Honddu at Half Moon: Blank. Let's be frank here: in spring fishing, a down stream wind blowing snow into one's face combined with rising and colouring water is not usually a good sign. Was I downhearted? Well I was rather, and retired to the bar of the Half Moon. A sit in the warm with a pint gave me the idea of going over to the next valley and...

R50 Grwyne Fawr: 1 x 15 inch trout. Again searching the holes and 1 good trout before even the GF started to colour up.

Fishing:All Species (in season)

2 x 10 -11 inch trout, one a bit thin post-spawning, the other quite a handsome chap. The trout were not "out and about" on the feeding lies though, and definitely needed to be searched for in the holes.

My first visit to this beat. It was a warm day with sunshine and showers. I caught 5 trout and 2 grayling one of which was 15 inches. The other fish were from 7 to 10 inches. Caught on march brown imitations (mainly nymphs but did manage one on a dry). This is a pretty beat which I will definitely return to.
