The water was very high and made the fishing rather difficult. The the water was coming through at a tremendous pace. I did however manage to catch a barbel of around 5lb and a chub of around 4lb on Halibet pellet. As the water was continuing to rise and fishing conditions were not good as it rained most of the day and the banks were slippery I reluctantly decided to come home two days early.
The Wye River has wonderful potential for barbel and chub my main target but the contitions were far from perfect. That's fishing. I did find other anglers and the fishing tackle shop in the area very friendly and helpful and managed to gather a lot of information for next time.

River was a touch high with a bit of colour but still very fishable. Not much happening on top but a big black klinkhammer got the local residents interested! Brought 6 fish to hand - 6" to 12" - and plenty more dropped off or missed on the take - stocks seem good!
Great day as per usual, thanks WUF.

River high and rising after heavy rain overnight. Throwing it down all day. Caught 3, all returned, 1 on copper john nymph, 2 on dry olive because despite the rain there was a good hatch and occasional rising fish.
Goosander around all day but saw no mink

First time on Llyn Em but conditions looked good if perhaps a touch too much water ( picky ). Thus caught Grayling, Trout and Chub but the elusive Salmon remained - elusive. No sign or sight at all.
Note to would be anglers who like the quiet life - this beat is RIGHT next to the road for much of its length.

River dropped about 18 inches through the day. Fished the lower end of the beat by the cottage, had 12 barbel and 2 chub, fish were about 5-6lb average in good condition. All fish taken on block end feeder filled with 4mm pellet with small and large pellet on the hook. Plagued by chub all day, had to ignore all the tugs and plucks and wait for the barbel. Weather was great so a cracking day, I was the only one there.

Brief session before work. River at 2ft 3" and clear. Ideal conditions for this beat. In V at mouth of Armies Pool a solid take on far side turned into a 10lb hen fish with marbeled gill plates. Went to work happy.

Water still in flood, visibility about a foot. Flow too fast for the heaviest nymph. Most of the beat unfishable. Head high nettles and Himalayan balsam. No fish seen, quite a lot of Mayfly about.

First Barbel session of the year and full of hope out testing new product from Alcedo. River highish and a little coloured. Perfect for Barbel although the favoured lower pool could not be accessed due the high water.
Result was just one 8-9lb fish on meat for a full afternoon and evening session. Heavy fight in very fast white foaming water! Will be back when its a bit lower or will go high for the Salmon.
Thanks to Don as always.
