River was coloured and really pushing through; even in shallow riffles you could feel the strength of current. Anglers should take care as the current has gouged out deep, fast channels.
Great sport on Mayfly. I arrived at around midday and there was a steady hatch from about 1pm until 4.30pm, when a cool breeze came up and seemed to end it. I had lots of splashy rises to the fly, missing a lot (!), losing a couple and netting a few around the 8 to 9 inch mark but saw lots of trout much larger.
No fish taken.

Wonderful day but no fish. I knew it was going to be difficult when I peeped over the bridge and a decent trout took off down stream into a deep pool. Ane so it continued, however careful I was the fish just were too easily spooked. But I did see a sparrow hawk, a kingfisher and numerous crayfish so it was a success in some respects. If you leave the river between the bridge and the Back brook it is almost impossible to return to the river as the vegetation (particularly the holly hedge) is so dense.

Another morning on the Hindwell – very challenging fun in the deep, tight pools above the bridge.

A great day working my way upstream with a light rod and a heavy nymph. Slight colour in the water - which I’m guessing may be something to do with calcium carbonate chemistry? Probably made it slightly easier to sneak on the fish, all of which were holding exactly where you’d expect in the deeper pools.

Fished from 1pm-4:30pm. There was a brisk downstream wind with few flies seen hatching and nothing rising, so I decided to nymph rather than use a dry fly. In total I caught 15 trout, all on the same tungsten bead pheasant tail nymph, which was fished using short line nymphing tactics. One good sized fish of about 14 inches caught just before I left.

Pretty disappointing. Scarcely any fish seen at all. Did find a treble spinner hanging from a branch, might have had something to do with the absence of fish! Is there a bailiff?

A cold and very windy day. No hatch or fish seen. The water looked rather milky - not sure whether this is normal or due to run off from nearby farms. Access to upper section of beat was a little tricky [ ? needs access work ]. Still, a lovely bit of water.

No Fish. Beautiful location. Hottest day of the the year so far. Bright sunshine. Plenty of nymphs around under stones, and a reasonable amount of fly life. A sparse hatch of up-winged flies. Didn't see a trout rise all day or disturb a fish all day whilst wading. Fished both dry fly (BWO) and some indicator nymphs (PTN) in the deep pools which were quite milky from silt. The banks are being heavily eroded by sheep and cattle drinking on long stretches of the river especially above the bridge.
