All caught on PTN, water levels low but fishable until the heavens opened up relentlessly, only fished about 100m or so upstream from the entry point straight across the fields from the two gates, I would imagine it would be difficult to fish if the water was its normal self as there is barbed wire fences along the banks, fortunately I could Wade as it was only about 2ft deep along the length I fished

Fished the afternoon, first time at Llandewi, and broke my hitherto blanks on the Welsh streams. 1 par to hand (couldn't distinguish whether trout or salmon) on small dry fly, plus one other "distance released (may have been a grayling, on the dropper). River low but weather was cool for the time of year, and overcast , which may have helped. Numerous takes from fry, all at head of pools in streams water.

3x wbt, 6-11 ins by grey duster para and olive Klink , all returned safely. Missed a couple and another slipped the barbless hook. Fished 0800-1300, no hatch between these hrs, wind had crept up from a breeze, no good on the more open section, obvious changes to the beat due to past floods n storms, still a great beat.

Got up at 4am. On the river at 5.00am back for breakfast . Beautiful morning with mist on the meadows. Water level very low. Water very warm on the fingers. Did not expect to get any fish activity and that proved to be the case. Had a nice walk up the beat as I have not been here before. I will be back. My reward was the sight of a kingfisher.

Started at the bridge again, a few fish about put on a small dry tups size 18 and moved up river, 3 trout, 2 x 8 ins, 1 x 10 ins. Half way up the beat I met 2 otters moving down river, fished up the rest of the beat, never seen another fish. I’ve fished the Ithon since 1958 but this is poorest the fishing as ever been. The otters are destroying the fishing between Llandrindod and Llanbadarn Fynydd.
Fishing Passport Note: 3 trout from a small river in July is not that bad a result. Unfortunately, there are more harmful threats to the Ithon and it's fish stocks than otters.
