9 x wbt. Mayflies hatching throughout the afternoon but not in any great numbers. A sedge pattern in the faster water did the trick with the fish smashing the fly. Thanks to the Wye and Usk.

Very warm day, a little sun. Problems with barbed wire (moving around) and lush trees and vegetation. Still, 2 small brownies caught off the top and returned, with another 3 missed.
Taken on a size 14 Grey Duster.

Great spot, didn't see a fish all day gin clear. Too early in the season I expect. Will return later this year.

This is a lovely little river, unfortunately on the day I visited the river was low, slimy on the bottom and pools were a bluey grey colour. No signs of fly life or fish and no takes to my drys or gold head nymphs. As with all of the wild trout beats I have fished, access can be a problem, though there are some much worse than this one. Excessive use of barbed wire, and cattle gates across the river do not help, but a machete would be useful. I thought it was the trout that were wild, not the stream side vegetation! I'd like to give it a go in late May/June with a little more water in it, but it's a long way to come from Washington!

Beautiful day and lovely beat. 10 trout up to 10 inches caught between the two of us, mostly on the nymph. Fishing on the challenging side given the low water and bright sunshine, but what a pleasure to fish in such glorious weather for a change!

River low and clear, wading easy as it always is on the Lugg. Access back to the car from the top of the beat not clear, ended up retracing steps along river to the bottom of the beat. A fine day with a consistent hatch of yellow mayfly, true mayfly and olives all day. Despite all the fly life, only the occasional fish rising to the surface and all fish caught on upstream nymph. Most success with a GRHE with a bit of life imparted to the movement of it. A great day out and I will be back to fish the evening rise at some point.

A warm sunny day which became cloudier as the day went on. The river was relatively low and clear with masses of gnats above the water and small hatches of olives in the late morning and early afternoon. 14 trout caught mostly 6 inches and below. 9 trout caught nymping with goldbead nymphs, 1 on a tiny nymph fished under a Klinkhammer and 4 on a CDC caddis dry fly.
