arrived at ten and water was pushing with a little colour so opted single 2.5mm tungsten nymph . all trout were between 6-10 inches with none of the larger fish making an appearance . sadly as could be expected after the lull in the weather and wind coming from a north easterly hatches were non existant. in the few hours there only one rise spotted. temperature was 5 degrees at start and only eight when i left , with the water still feeling cold. nice to be back on the beat and hoping the weather picks up soon.

Visited this beat today but the river level was too low to be really fishable so only stayed less than 1 hour. I tried two pools without any sign of fish.

Could not fish the river because of obstacles in the river and could not go up the banks at these points because it was too over grown.
WUF Note: Thank you for the feedback, we are looking into this now and will get back to you.

Water levels low and and water clear. Even so surprisingly few fish rising in a steady mayfly hatch. Recent habitat improvement has made casting easier but speculation in many holes and riffles failed to yield the expected rise. Never mind it's still one of my favourite beats

Fished this beat 2 weeks ago upstream of whats left of the bridge so decided to fish from the bottom of the beat up to the bridge this time, not much in the way of rising fish so i fished a small bead head nymph tied on a barbless jig hook underneath a klinkhammer. This resulted in 14 trout up to 10 inches and 1 Grayling that looked well over the pound all on the nymph, I must have missed all lost as many, fantastic sport on my new 6ft fibreglass rod. There is plenty of water to fish and quite a few deep pools. There were a couple of tree that had fallen across the river but i did not have much of a problem getting around them.
14 Trout, 1 Grayling
