Great stretch of water, wading was slightly tricky without studs so I’d recommend having a wading stick and some studs for this particular section.

With the river being so low and on a very bright sunny morning I didn't have any great expectations, but had been meaning to try a beat on the Irfon for some time, but so it proved - a blank, with not a fish in sight despite plenty of fly life evident. Nice stretch of river in a lovely part of the valley, but awful conditions for fish.
Stayed at Irfon Valley Pods, the campsite near Llangammarch Wells, highly recommended.

Low but plenty of flow. Only fished 2 pools mid morning, no rises but caught a stonking 2lb+ trout on red tag beaded nymph tight to the bank in slow wide pool. Managed to fill my chest waders with water so had to call it a day after only two hours.

Fished Aberbwtran as I consider it best as a low water beat (I find that many of the pools are unreachable in high water). A few heavy showers and thunderstorms. I was eventually rewarded with a nice 13" brown trout in the top set of pools.

Spring like sunny conditions with summer water levels (0.27m at Cilmery)! It was 6C at 10:00hrs when I arrived at the river and 16C when I left at 16:00hrs. A lovely stretch of river - I was greeted by woodpeckers and lots of caddis activity. What a shame I didn't catch anything although I did hook and play 2 sizeable trout, both on CDC /deer hair emergers (barbless) but lost both. I saw several other large trout in or near the gutters.

Beautifully secluded beat. Spent a couple of hours fishing, cilmery gauge at 0.47 and water low and clear.
Caught a lovely grayling of around 1.5lb in the top pool by the beach area. Caught on a perdigon fished under a crostons mass attack as 'indicator'.
I also caught a large 40cm brownie that came and took the dry! Returned quickly

Very attractive section of the Irfon.
Short session 11-1330.
Water conditions good, cold NE wind not so good.
No takes at any point across a variety of nymphs.
Easy walk from the road down and bank access along the stretch is relatively easy with well maintained gates and no barbed wire to cross!
Will try again in more favourable weather.

Good to return to this scenic beat with water lowish & clear.. Just a couple of hours before wind & rain arrived & nymphed only top pool without success. Floods have made access at bottom of beat more difficult with eroded banks.

Plenty of rising fish in the river; I just couldn't catch them. I caught 4 trout (the largest to 8") but missed many more. All fish were caught on CDC, coq de leon and hares mask generic emergers of sizes 14,16, and 18.
