Stream low but with good flow. Crystal clear. Overcast but warm, around 20 degrees. A lovely five hours. All fish very healthy. Missed a few too.

An unseasonably cold and blustery day for June. Only found a few fish rising, managed two on the dry fly and one on the nymph between us. Despite the weather this beats a lovely place to spend a few hours.

New to the Honddu and first choice was the Lowe Stanton beat but 2 other anglers just beat me to it, so I headed upstream to Lower Henlon and then Llanthony in the afternoon. River level high but clear. Winkled out one WBT of about 10 inches on nymph.

Beautiful setting. Water a little high and coloured up. Fish found in deeper pools and both caught on squirmy worm whilst French nymphing, 1st around 8inches 2nd around 10. Hooked and lost a third whilst prospecting with dry dropper, took pink bead head ptn.

A lovely day for the start of the season. Blue skies for a change and no wind! The Honddu was running high, with some colour, thanks to snowmelt coming off the surrounding hills. Water felt like ice. Despite this, there was a hatch of olives around mid-day, but no rises. Slow going, but we landed half a dozen fish to nymphs between us and lost a couple. Best fish was 1.5lb to RM, in cracking condition for the time of year. Be warned, the banks are liquid mud in several places, especially around the sheep pens on the lower section.

Spent a lovely afternoon fishing but alas drew a blank.. Tried a mixture of flies / presentations mainly beaded PTN or olive and think I had a tentative knock but no fish.. saw one rise later in the afternoon on one of the slower pools but that was it... I obviously need to improve my techique next time. There was quite a lot of "wash down" rubbish on the banks, mainly black polythene but otherwise relatively easy access to the water and most of the banks.. pity there isnt an exit away from the water towards the upper end of the beat (I didnt see one) other than the main access path as it felt like a long slog back mainly wading back up the river...
