The lowest I've seen the river here at this time of year , sluggish on the whole and the river bed desperately needs a flush through and the rocks where quite greasy for the wading which is unusual here. Hope the rain forecast next week helps! No mayfly seen , probably come and gone I guess so just had the evening session after another hot day.
Very little fly /spinner etc but found a pod of maybe half a dozen or so good fish sipping on some bits of spinner in a slow pool up from the farm. Hooked one that would have gone around a pound but lost at the net...oops...but then latched onto a better fish that gave me the real run around and netted safely though the fly pinged out as it slid over the net ! A stunning fish that I'm sure could have made 2 pound , deep bodied and in fabulous condition.I'll remember that one for a long time! All the commotion put the pool down for sure but was way much more than happy with that exceptional fish so let them be for the night. The fly used was a size 18 rusty spinner. Lots of small trout topping in the junction pool, great. The farm pool had some good trout showing but very spooky. Other usually 'banker' runs where really quiet.
Bug life on the stones etc was a bit sparse.

Very low here now , as you might expect and very silty too and very very quiet on top with fish and fly. Expected again!
Going very very slow along the river and prospecting in the likely spots with a 14 black foam beetle or klinkhammer got the attention of some fish though . Four to hand at 7" & 9"", 11" and a superbly spotted 14incher. V happy with that of course but also got bounced by a clonker for here at circa 2lb at least I reckon!! Wow.. A decent number of fish fluffed too.
Decent number of assorted bugs on the stones where the water was flowing well and the resident Kingfisher putting on some good flybys. It actually flew just under my nose the once when was bent over looking at the bugs ! Blimey...
Beer and food was fab up at the Crown as always, I was pitched up at Tan house farm campsite there.
All highly recommended.

River quite low, but we found a few rising fish and had 3 hooked, only 1 to the net. It is sad to see the state of the river, the bottom is as bad as the Wye with algal growth and lack of healthy weed and clean gravel.

River is running low and fishing is difficult. But despite the conditions, a few fish were catched. Fly of the day was a small dark klinkhammer size 16.
