A wonderfully secluded 1/2 mile stretch of left bank river Irfon fishing, just downstream of Garth. The river here is a mixture of gravel runs and bedrock gutters, making for a good variety of wading and fishing conditions. In addition to the trout, grayling and chub are also present enabling the fishery to remain open all year round.
Anglers should note that it is a fair walk from the parking area to the riverbank (just over ½ mile) but the beat is well worth the effort.

There is an approx. ½ mile walk to the river from the parking spot.

Ideally fished with a 7 to 8.5ft, 3 to 5wt rod.

There was an outbreak of crayfish plague in the lower Irfon on the Wye catchment in July 2024 resulting in the deaths of the many of the native white-clawed crayfish. This beat contains a healthy population of native crayfish therefore, visiting anglers MUST ensure against cross contamination by approved check/dry/disinfection procedures, and importantly waders, nets and tackle should be sprayed with Virkon disinfectant before and after fishing.
