Merthyr AA offer approx. 10 miles of fishing on the Taf Fawr and main river Taff which is lightly stocked early in the year but has a good head of natural hard fighting brownies. Both rivers converge at Cefn Coed close to Merthyr Tydfil, to form the river Taff.

Worm, fly and spinner permitted.

The Taff from Quakers yard up to Merthyr Vale is mainly good rural fly fishing and nymphing water although these methods are suitable on all beats. Merthyr Vale to Abercanaid is semi-rural and from Abercanaid to the Junction with the Taff Fawr/Fechan almost urban.

Anyone fishing on the River Taff at Merthyr is welcome to call Tony Rees, on 01685 723520 for advice.
