A few miles from the source of the river Usk, this remote upland 280 acre reservoir is set amongst forest and moorland in the Brecon Beacons National Park. It is regarded as one of the best still water trout fisheries in Wales with fly fishing, spinning and worm fishing all permitted (the western end of the water is fly fishing only). Power Bait (or anything similar) are NOT PERMITTED.

The wild brown trout population is supplemented with stocking of rainbows. For fly fishermen, standard reservoir nymphs and lures are recommended. ALL BROWN TROUT MUST BE RETURNED.

There is currently no boat fishing on site due to maintenance works near to the dam. This will not impact the bank fishing, aside from in the immediate area of the works. It is anticipated that the work should be completed approx. late Spring 2026.

Opening hours : 8am to 7pm – 9pm (½ hour after sunset or 9pm, whichever is earlier).

Junior Ticket (Under 16 yrs)
A child of 13 years old and younger may fish for free with a Full Fare (6 fish) paying adult, with the bag limit being shared between the two persons fishing. This applies to 1 child only. Any additional children must have their own relevant permit.

Rules and Regulations
  • Anglers must stop fishing when catch limit is reached or purchase another ticket at the fishery.
  • One rod per angler for trout fishing
  • Fly fishing, spinning and worm fishing ONLY. Power Bait (or anything similar) are NOT PERMITTED.
  • All Brown Trout must be returned alive
  • No fishing from the dam face, overflow, feeder streams or conservation area on the north bank.
  • The use of lead weights from 0.06g (no.8 shot) to 28.4g (1oz) is prohibited.
  • National bye-laws must be observed and it is up to anglers to familiarise themselves with these.
