Great to be back on the Usk after over a year’s absence. Had hoped to fish Usk Town Waters but the levels still high and the water too coloured after the recent heavy rain. Settled on Abergavenny Town Water as access a bit easier and the water a little clearer.
Despite the strong wind and low temperature, there was actually a short hatch around 1pm, although not enough visible action to suggest a dry might be worth a try.
Fished a team of wets, had 5 decent takes that did not hold and landed a nice brown, a great way to start the season - a trip to the Principality Stadium for a Wales win on Saturday (finally) and then fishing on the Usk on Sunday!

One trout caught on nymph. Released. Very few fish rising all day. No significant hatches that I could see. Water levels low and murky in places. Lots of dog walkers making a disturbance
