We cannot stress enough the importance of making quick and accurate returns of salmon catches, even if nothing has been caught. Recording catch data is one (perhaps the best, certainly the most cost effective) way of determining the success of our river restoration works. Although affected by short term variations in weather and water conditions, the longer term data set will build an accurate picture of our salmon runs. Catch returns can be made quickly via our online form for both Passport and non-Passport waters. Most of our reporting is from the Wye. Where a salmon has come from another river we will state accordingly.

5:14 pm Decent spate on the Wye and lower Usk after unexpectedly heavy rain/snow means most beats will be washed out for a day or 2. Upper Usk has missed most of the rain so far and is still fishable.

9:22 am Ross AC Waters: Ross AC member Jason Tapp caught a 19lb hen fish yesterday afternoon in the pouring rain from Weirend beat on a Megabass plug.
The Wye was slowly rising and getting more coloured as the day went on.

3:10 pm Chainbridge (Usk): A fish for owner Bari Paraskeva today, witnessed by John Firminger . The first Usk fish of the Season reported to WUF. A very fresh fish close to 20lb, 8-9" deep, from the bottom of Rock Pool. "Caught on a Willy Gun Cone Head Snaelda on a floating line and 5’sink tip , mid stream at the bottom of Rock Pool. A bright silver cock fish about 39” , measured against my salmon rod".
