We cannot stress enough the importance of making quick and accurate returns of salmon catches, even if nothing has been caught. Recording catch data is one (perhaps the best, certainly the most cost effective) way of determining the success of our river restoration works. Although affected by short term variations in weather and water conditions, the longer term data set will build an accurate picture of our salmon runs. Catch returns can be made quickly via our online form for both Passport and non-Passport waters. Most of our reporting is from the Wye. Where a salmon has come from another river we will state accordingly.

5:15 pm Llanstephan gauge 2'4" and 1'4" at Brecon. Parts of upper Wye and certain other beats above Hereford just fishable this pm. Quite a lot of the Usk should fish too BUT.....there's a bit of rain about hopefully not enough to change anything.

5:25 pm Courtfield: 18 pounder early this morning for Don Macer-Wright. The fish took a black and silver FC.

4:37 pm Both rivers rose by over 1ft overnight and were carrying some colour. The upper/middle Usk should be fishable now while the upper Wye is dropping and clearing. Wye beats upstream of Hereford should be fishing tomorrow but more rain is forecast later in the afternoon/evening.

5:47 pm Coedithiel: 31lb on red and silver single hooked flying C for Nathan Jubb. First thing this morning and looks to have won the Pol Roger. If so it will be a worthy winner.
