2:59 pm Llanover (Usk): a 16 lb fish from Mrs Hughes' Corner today by Simon Jones, the first from the Usk this year.

1:35 pm Usk was looking perfect this morning, but the Upper Wye still has a bit of colour which should have dropped out tomorrow. Some rain forecast for early Friday morning, otherwise dry so looking quite promising for a good height for the rest of this week and over the weekend.

12:25 pm Yet another spate is hammering down both valleys this morning. Each spate is getting cleaner and with the cold weather forecast for the weekend, the high water catches of the Usk and the Upper Wye should be fishable by Sunday.

9:57 am Ingeston: Stacy Mccarthy braved the ice yesterday, to claim the first fish on the Wye this season, a 21 lbs clean fish. This was also her first ever salmon, caught on Lyn Cobley's homemade single hook FC.

9:16 am The Wye and Usk salmon seasons are off to a chilly start, with ice and snow stopping any chances of getting out onto the river so far!

9:10 pm Rhosferig: 7 Salmon: 15lb, 13lb, 2 x 12lb, 10lb and 2 x 5lb for Bill Baxter. Robert Thompson caught his first 3 Salmon, 14lb, 12lb and 10lb.and Tim West, had 2: 10lb and 6lb........ 12 in all over the last 2 days of the season.
